We were back in Cairo at Fort Brydon. Rick had told us to pack up, but Evie had insisted we stay. I knew she wanted to try to stop the creature. I sat in the room watching them argue now. "What are you doing? We are leaving!" Rick said, placing some of Evie's clothes in the suitcase. "No we are not." She said firmly, taking clothes back out.

"Evelyn, you heard the man. He said no mortal weapon can kill this creature." Rick said, snatching more clothes from the suitcase. Evie snatched them back out. "Well, we'll have to find some immortal ones." She said and Rick looked at her like she was insane.

"No Evelyn." He said and she sighed. "No, we woke him up and we are going to stop him." She said, turning to me. "Don't you agree, Addy?" She asked me and I nodded. "Rick, we cant let all of those innocent people die." I said, and Rick sighed. "It's not our problem. Besides there is no we. You opened that book, not me." Rick said, and I groaned.

"That's not fair, Rick! She didn't know!" I told him angrily. He was acting as if he doesn't care for Evie, and he does, I know he does. Evie turned to him. "Me, me, me. Yes I opened the book and I am going to stop him." Evie exclaimed, grabbing some more clothes from Rick.

"Evelyn, I appreciate you saving my life and all, but I didn't sign on for this. I told you I would get you to Hamunaptra and bring you back. I did that, so contract terminated." Rick said and I sighed. He was doing it again. Pretending he didn't care. "Is that all I am to you, a contract?" She asked, and she sounded a little hurt.

"Look, I'm going to get out of here. Are you tagging along with me or are you staying to try and save the world?" Rick asked Evie. "I'm staying." She said harshly. Rick turned to me.

"And you? Are you staying too?" He asked me, and I sighed and stood up. "Yes." I said and Rick groaned. "Fine!" He said, stalking out of the room and I put my head in my hands.

"Evie, what have we gotten ourselves into?" I asked her and she pulled me into a hug. "I won't let the creature hurt us, Addy. I promise." She said, and her blue eyes hardened with resolve. I nodded. "We can do this." I said, and I wished I meant it as much as I wanted to.

I walked down into the bar. I saw Jonathan and Rick sitting at it. I went and took a seat by Jonathan. "Hey." I told Jonathan and he turned to me. He looked stressed. "Hey, Addy." He replied. I wondered if he was staying as well. I glanced over at Rick as he poured a drink. "Rick, you can't just leave." I told him as he brought his glass to his lips.

"You know I'm right." I told him and he dropped his glass. "Have you thought of what could happen? We could die, all of us. Evelyn and you." He said sadly and I could tell he didn't want that to happen.

I'd thought of this too. I couldn't lose Rick or Evie. They were my family. And I knew that I definitely couldn't lose Jonathan. We'd never made it official, but I knew we both felt the same way. I was in love with Jonathan Carnahan. Of course I only realized it when we were being hunted by a resurrected mummy.

"I know, Rick. But if Jonathan and Evie are staying, so am I. I'm not going to leave them. Not now. Not ever." I said firmly. Heading this, Henderson walked over to us. "We're getting the hell out of here." He said, and I rolled my eyes.

"So you just tuck your tail between your legs." Jonathan said, apparently we had been thinking the same thing. "You would too if you had some sacred mummy after you." Henderson said and I scoffed.

"We all have something to lose. At least we're staying to make sure everyone else doesn't lose everything too." I told him and he glared at me. "What would you know? You're just a rogue woman. You shouldn't be here anyway." Henderson said meanly and I cursed under my breath. Son of a bitch.
