"Ameli, are you done?" Aunt Julie screamed at me for the hundredth time. She seriously need to learn to chill.
"Yeah, just a minute!" I replied.
Aunt Julie had invited a friend of hers for dinner and the whole family was coming. So, she had asked me to wear a formal attire and not jeans or shorts or whatever.
I took my last look in the mirror and checked if I was presentable enough. My outfit was a simple black strapless dress that was lacy at the bottom. I thought it was a good choice as it fits perfectly and it ended just above the knee. I had also left my natural hair down, not bothering what to do with it. With that, I scrambled down the stairs just in time to hear the doorbell.
"Can you get the door, Ameli?" Aunt Julie asked from the kitchen, her tone sounding more like a command.
I straightened my dress and opened the doorbto see a family of three staring at me. The woman cleared her throat and smiled, "You must be the beautiful Ameli. I am Mrs Lydia Caden."
"Please come in, Mrs Caden." I smiled and greeted them politely.
As they came in, I focused on their son and furrowed my eyebrows.
That guy from the supermarket. The apple stealer
He was wearing a white tee shirt and black skinny jeans that looked too good on him. Too good.
"You done eye-raping me, Ameli?" He said, emphasizing on my name.
"Jerk." I muttered under my breath.
"Nice try but it's Zac." He said, chuckling and smirking at the same time.
The dinner was actually not bad thanks to the food. Aunt Julie is an amazing cook. Her pancakes are the best and it's for dessert which is the only reason why I am agreeing to sit at the table.
"Ameli, what do you plan to do in the future?" I snapped out of my trance which was quite noticeable that I wasn't listening judging from Aunt Julie's look.
"Ermm I'm not sure but I'm thinking of becoming a teacher, Mrs Caden."
"Oh that's wonderful!" Mrs Caden exclaimed excitedly.
Ameli, can you and Zac go up to your room? We need an adult conversation." Aunt Julie asked. Both me and Zac nodded, only too glad to leave the boring talks.
As we went up to my room, Zac snickered loudly. I immediately glared at him and hissed at him rudely " What?"
" Why is your room in a black and white theme?"
"Why, is that any of your concern?
"Geez, I was only asking. Don't be such a bitch about it." My jaw immediately dropped open at how he called me a bitch without even knowing me that well.
I took in a deep breath, since I didn't have the mood to be in an argument with him now.
"Okay, can we just sit down on the bed and talk properly?" I said. Zac shrugged and went to plop himself comfortably on my bed as I sat down beside him.
Soon, we were asking questions to know each other better and I had to admit, I kind of enjoyed it. Zac was actually a friendly and funny person if he wasn't being an ass for most of the time.
"Your eyes are beautiful." Zac complimented me suddenly. I blushed and was about to say thank you to him.
"It actually really reminds me of my previous pet dog."
And that sentence completely wiped off the smile on my face.
