Part 63 Suspicion
Arnav could not understand why Khushi looked upset. Khushi was always thinking about Annapurna and her words. Though she was silent her mind got into a windstorm. She didn't know how to handle this and what to do to Annapurna.
In the kitchen,
Khushi was stirring the gravy that was on the stove. She was lost. She didn't even notice the milk that was about to overflow. Arnav saw that and turned the stove off hurriedly. Khushi looked at him bewildered.
"Khushi, what's the matter? Why are you looking lost?"
She nodded no and concentrated on the gravy. Arnav turned the burner off and made her look at him.
"What happened Khushi? You are looking dull..."
"Leave it Arnavji," she said wearily.
"Why Khushi?" he clutched her upper arms.
"You won't trust my words," she said, trying to remove his hands.
"Who's words would I trust other than you?" Arnav gripped her hands more.
She read his face and then nodded no.
"Khushi I know something is there for sure... tell me what's the matter"
Khushi sensed his anger raising.
"I... I heard Annapurna talking on the phone with her friend..."
"so?"
"She said, 'I like him very much'..."
"Don't you know Akash and Purna are the hot topics in our office?"
"She said, 'he is the only fetching man in our office'..."
"So what?"
"You are the only fetching man in our office," she said.
Arnav chuckled.
"Khushi, according to you, I'm the fetching man but not for everybody. Ask Lavanya, she will tell NK is fetching. It differs from person to person... she should have talked about Akash"
"If it is Akash, why would she say 'I will get him by hook or by crook? I will do anything to get him?"
"She should love him so much. That's why she should have told so..."
"No... she said, looking at YOU," she said looking at him firmly.
Arnav got stuck for a few seconds.
"I might have crossed her way when she said that," he said stammering.
Khushi left the kitchen and said nothing. Arnav followed her.
"Khushi, wait... what would I think if you leave like this?"
"I said you won't trust me. I'm right. You don't"
He made her sit on the couch and he sat next to her.
"Khushi, listen... we spoilt our beautiful days due to my misunderstanding. Please don't do the same. You know me. No one other than you are important to me. You are someone no one could get, Khushi. You are irreplaceable. Know your value..."
"More than my value, I know your value. That's what makes me scared. I need you Arnavji" her eyes tear up.
"What do you want me to do? Tell me..."
Khushi hugged circling his neck and cried.
"I don't know Arnavji... I really don't know what to do. I don't know what I'm thinking is right. But my heart tells me she is wrong"
