The sound of a loud bang brought me out of the train of thought that I was put on, the sound of my heart thumping against my chest, trying to escape and run away. I began to wonder how this person got into my house, and wondered why they were here. My pulse quickened as I thought of the following people who it might be; a robber, killer, gang member.
But I knew that a robber, killer, or a gang member could never get into the house with the kind of security that Tyler had. My hand fumbled with the handle of the drawer, trying to find the item I was looking for inside. Feeling my fingers touch the object, I grasped onto it, bring it out and flipping out the blade of my pocketknife.
I quietly slipped out of bed, laying my hand on the doorknob and softly opened it. I peeked out into the hallway, making sure that the stranger wasn't out there. I slipped out of my room, silently thanking Tyler for oiling my door hinges last week or it would've squeaked, catching the unwanted house guest's attention.
My heart raced faster each second as I declined the stairs, wondering who the person that unwillingly entered my house. I nearly gouged my eyes out to find that it was someone who I had met earlier today.
Calum.
"Calum?" I asked in bizarre, making his body whip around, an apologetic look growing onto his face when he saw me standing there. "What are you doing?"
He didn't say anything but stare at the pocketknife in my hand, the blade still out. Putting the blade into its place, I put the hand that wasn't holding the knife onto my hip, letting the knife-holding hand hang by my side.
"Hello, Rose," said Calum, giving me a smile. My eyes narrowed as I stared at him, having him cringe under my gaze. "I swear I wasn't going to take or destroy anything, I promise."
"Calum," I tried to keep in my anger, "why are you here? How should I know that you weren't going to take or destroy anything, hm?"
"You should know that I wouldn't take anything. Do you think I'm a nice person, yeah?" I nodded a little. "Then you know. Do you mind if I borrow something?"
Giving him a suspicious look, I looked around the living room, trying to find something to find, but didn't. I shook my head no, crossing my arms over my chest. "Come on, please? Or else Luke would kill me - "
A spark of interest ignited inside of me, wondering who this Luke person was. "Who's Luke?"
Calum eyes went wide, then making a curious face. "Luke? I don't know anyone by the name of Luke," he said, stroking the imaginary beard on his chin.
My eyes narrowed again, this time in irritation. "I know you're hiding something, I'm not stupid."
"I know you're not. I'm just saying that I don't know anyone by the name of Luke, okay?" He laid his hands on his shoulders, looking into my emerald-green eyes.
"You're lying, I know it." I stared back into his brown eyes, testing him to see how long he could keep my gaze before looking away. "There a reason why?"
He looked a little fidgety. "That doesn't matter right now, okay? Look, I need to go home now. See you later!"
"Wait, Calum - " Before I could finish my sentence, he ran to the window and dove headfirst through it, my eyes widening as he did so. I rushed over to the window, hoping that he was okay. Shaking my head, I looked at the scene in front of me; Calum had turned into a wolf, looking like he was communicating with the wolf beside him. The other wolf looked up at me, its baby-blue eyes staring into mine.
