Dumbledore and Vera landed in an empty field after apparating. Vera who had been apparating with Dumbledore for most of her life usually had little to no problems with it, but after the abuse, she had endured during her time at Saeptuose she felt extremely light-headed as she hunched over.

Regardless of her physical state she still pulled herself together to snap at her headmaster. "Where have you been?" Vera growled at Dumbledore with a raspy voice.

Dumbledore had promised her that he would convince the orphanage to let Nora leave for the holidays because Vera would not leave her alone in that hell on earth.

"trying to stop the inevitable." Dumbledore said.

"No, Where have you been?" She demanded.
"Because I've been exactly where you left me for months, not just three weeks like you said." She bit harshly not waiting for Dumbledore to respond to her previous question.

"Vera I understand you're angry with me, but I did it for your safety, Saeptuose was the safest place for you seeing as I've been busy this summer, too busy to babysit," Dumbledore explained.

"I'm sixteen now, I could have handled myself."said Vera feeling the need to remind him.

"That may be true, but with Voldemort after you more than ever, I decided not to put my trust into sixteen-year-old's dealing abilities against death eaters, Happy belated birthday by the way."

"What changed? Thought you loved child soldiers." She felt bitter towards him after Sirius's death, mostly because Sirius had warned her about Dumbledore, he had told her that he did not trust the man.

Vera just looked at him with irritation knowing he could talk his way out of anything.

"Why is he after me more now than before?" Vera asked.

"You remember the battle at the ministry where you used an unforgivable curse on Bellatrix?" Dumbledore inquired.

"Obviously, but don't tell me you believe he has even an inkling of feelings towards that hag." She said with disgust written on her face.

"No, I believe that when you deuled your father he saw your potential and now I strongly believe that gave him hope that he could still bring you to the dark side," he informed her.

"Your hand is cursed." Vera pointed at his hand trying to change the subject. His word choice made Vera want to point out that she didn't stray away from her father because of his dark magic but because he had killed her mother.

"Mr. Potter pointed out the same thing," Dumbledore noted, trying to change the subject as well.

"You've spoken to Harry?" She asked with a tinge of curiosity.
