Around a week had went by since my first introduction to the cram school class and True Cross Academy as a whole. In short, it was a weird school. Having a weirdo magician for a director made it all the better.

I was slowly but surely becoming close to my fellow classmates. I was at a great advantage of already behind friends with Shima, Konekomaru and Bon because that way I always had somebody to talk to but I found myself growing increasingly closer to Rin. We would often run to class together in mornings because we always woke up late and had no time for breakfast or such. It was nice to have a friend that wasn't Bon or Shima or Konakomeru because I didn't feel pressure to be Bon's idea of perfect and I was actually able to curse.

Exam time was coming up and Mr. Okumura explained to the class that we had to take a camping trip into the woods in order to get us used to dealing with middle-class demons, ghouls and pests. This was also a major part of our final exam.

There were only three tents to dispatch between the whole class. Obviously, Konekomaru, Shima and Bon were sharing. Rin and Yukio were sharing with the ventriloquist (that was, if he even showed up) and I was paired with Izumo and Shiemi.

To say I was excited would be an understatement. The thought of sitting around a campfire with these lovely people for a couple of nights enthralled me dearly. I told this to Bon and he said something along the lines of 'get serious' or 'this is an exam not a holiday'. The boy doesn't understand skiving opportunities when they are blatantly laid out in front of him.

After a long mini-van ride and a couple of miles of walking, we eventually reached our campsite which appeared to be an open field in the middle of nowhere. Everyone was setting up camp whilst Mr. Okumura started the fire. We were allowed to have the first night to relax.

The whole class was gathered around the campfire, laughing and having fun. Well, almost he whole class. Mr. Okumura was standing a couple of meters away from the rest of us just looking into the dark, clouded sky.

"Hey," I said as I came up behind him.

"Trying to scare me?"

"Not at all, actually I was coming to question why you're standing in the middle of a field all alone when you have perfectly willing friends over by a warm campfire, Mr. Okumura." I said, rather quickly.

"Please, call me Yukio. I was just speculating, that's all," he said matter-of-factly.

"Well, I think you should come over with us and ponder the questions of the universe," I winked at him earning a soft smile.

"You really are something, (Y/N)," he said as we walked over to the campfire together.

The campfire was calming and most had retreated back to their tents. Shiemi and Izumo were long gone. The only people left were Rin, Shima and I. It couldn't have been later than 1AM.

"So, (Y/N), how is True Cross for you? It must be better than staying at that boring old temple," Shima tried to joke, although I had a vague idea that he was staring down my pyjama top.

"It's okay. I miss the temple, as much as I like to think I hated it. Don't you?"

"A little," he replied quietly. 'Get your damn eyes up here, Shima,' I thought to myself.

"I love it here," Rin said, plopping down beside me and handing me a drink, "I could sit around this campfire for hours and not get bored."

"I'll second ya, bro," Shima replied.

I began to feel my eyelids droop and my posture lacking its usual straight stance. The night was wearing on and I was becoming increasingly tired. I think I must have been asleep until I felt soft fingertips on my arm.

"Your strap fell down a little," blushed Rin.

"Thank you," I bowed sleepily. I opened my eyes wider to see that it was only Rin and I left out of the whole class.

"I guess we should go to bed now, huh?" I said sleepily.

"Probably. I'm really tired," Rin stood up, yawning.

I tried to get up but I embarrassingly tripped over the logs that surrounded our fire pit.

"Wow, careful there!" Rin chuckled lightly, helping me gain my balance.

"Sorry, I'm just really tired. I'm not used to walking so much and doing so much activity," I said honestly. Due to being at the temple all the time, the furthest I could walk was around the cherry blossoms that were in the back garden.

"Don't worry about it," Rin said quietly, biting his lip, "Um, (Y/N)?"

"Yeah?"

"Do you want me to carry you to Yukio and I's tent? You can sleep in there, if you want," he blushed madly.

"Isn't the ventriloquist guy staying there?"

"No, he didn't show up."

"Okay, only if you carry me, though," we laughed together.

I must have fallen asleep in Rin's arms but I vaguely remember him tucking me in a sleeping bag and throwing a cover over us both to keep in some heat.
