I twisted and turned for the whole night, unable to find comfort in the bed that I used to sleep in my whole life.

Isn't bed supposed to be the most comfortable place to be? In your own bed, all of your worries dissolve?

I knew something was off. I carefully stepped over Shiemi and Izumo's sleeping form to gaze out of the window that painted me a picture of my childhood. I guess I was just feeling hella nostalgic.

I reminded myself of all the happy times I had had here in this room with my whole family but the horrible guilt and shame of the past washed over me. The scared little girl I was but a few mere months ago was beginning to escape again and I didn't know what to do about it.

I decided to go for a walk around the temple, something I used to do all the time when I was younger. It helped me relax and find solace somehow. But anytime I looked out that window, yet again I could feel myself cowering in the corner.

"Up again?"

I whipped my head round to see who the voice belonged to.

"Yukio, you really shouldn't scare people like that."

"You would scare anyone by walking around at this time, looking half dead and scared."

The bitch had a point.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle you," I said sarcastically. He was the one who made me shit myself.

"Tell me what's wrong. I know there is something wrong and there has been since you got back here."

"I don't think it's any of your concern."

"(Y/N), you know, ever since we first met, I've felt that we've had a mutual understanding of each other. That we just got what the other one meant without words. Please, just tell me what's wrong before Rin or someone else finds out and makes it into a massive deal."

God, he was right. As per usual.

"Okay, come on. Let's sit down and I'll spill you my life story," I said jokingly, only to cover up the fact I was dying on the inside.

"Well, I'm sure you're more than aware of the events of the 'Blue Night'. Obviously, I was here when it happened. In this very room, in fact. I still remember the cries of my mother as she was consumed by those flames and the pleading of my father to try and save her from all the way over the other side of the little town. They were strong exorcists, excellent in their respective fields. I witnessed my very own mothers body turn to burning flesh and then to nothing. Any time I'm here, I'm reminded of that. Anytime I look out a window, I see her there. I just can't get over it, Yukio, I don't know how," I eventually admitted.

I couldn't stop the tears once they had started. Yukio embraced me in his arms and smoothed out my hair.

"I can help you. We, Rin and I can help you. You don't have to suffer alone," he said calmly.

"Thank you, Yuki. I'm so grateful."

"Not a problem, now go get some rest. We're heading off tomorrow."

"But I thought we were supposed to be training here tomorrow?"

"I can't keep you here in this state. I don't know how you managed to go through the past few years like this but, I can't let it happen again. Harato understands."

I didn't know what else to say. I honestly thought I was keeping my nervousness to myself the whole time I was here. Thank Satan for Yukio, is all I'm saying.

"Thank you so much," I said and gave him a quick peck on the cheek and went back to my own room.

The next morning I woke up later than usual and entered the dining hall.

"Good morning, (Y/N)!" Harato bellowed and came up to hug me.

"Hey, Harato."

"I know what's happened. Yukio told me. Don't worry about it, okay?" he whispered in my ear.

"I'm so sorry."

"Don't you dare be sorry! Now, come on, that lovely boyfriend of yours has cooked us up some meal!"

I sat down and waited for my dish to be served. A plate with messy foods was slammed in front of me. I looked up to see Rin's angry face.

"There," he spat.

Oh fuck, what was wrong with him?
