Chapter 15 - Ice cream

Her POV

Nandito ako ngayon sa garden kasi alam kong walang makakakita sa akin dito, and my eyes are still swollen from crying last night because of what happened yesterday.

I called Andra earlier and she cannot come at the moment, nasa meeting pa raw siya with Tito Vincent. Naitanong din sa akin kanina nina manang kung ano ba raw ang nangayari sa akin. Pero pinili ko na lang manahimik.

Flashback

Agad akong nagtungo sa office ni mommy at nadatnan ko siyang may kausap sa phone niya. Umupo naman ako sa couch para hintayin siyang matapos ang kausap niya.

Nang makita niya ako ay nagpaalam ito kaagad sa kausap niya.

"Alright, I'll call you back later." and she put her phone on her pocket.

Lumapit naman ito sa akin. "So, how was the dinner?" she asked.

To be honest, kanina pa talaga ako kinakabahan kung papano ko ba ito sasabihin sa kanya. Kasi alam kung magagalit talaga siya.

"It w-was good, mom." at napayuko na ako sa kaba. Hindi ko na siya kayang tignan sa mga mata.

"I see. Did Mr. Vier like the wine, I gave you?" she asked plainly.

"Yes, he did."

She raised my chin. "Look at me, child." saad niya. Kaya kahit nanginginig ay napatingin na ako sa kanya.

At kanina ko pa pinipisil ang kamay ko sa kaba.

She raised her eyebrows, "Now, tell me... Did you successfully get the deal with Mr. Vier?" she asked calmly.

My mouth is trembling, words won't come out.

"Answer me, Zahara."

I bit my lower lip. "M-mommy."

"It's a simple question, Zahara. It is answerable by " yes" or "no", but why can't you answer it!?" and now, she started to raise her voice.

"M-mom, I'm s-sorry." and my tears began to flow.

She chuckled. "So, you're telling me that you didn't make it?"

"Yes m-mom, I'm really sorry." iyak ko sa kanya.

She inhale deeply, and closed her eyes.

When she opened her eyes, she suddenly slapped me.

"Useless!" she shouted. Mas lalo lang akong napaiyak. Habang hawak ang kabilang pisngi ko. Sobrang sakit.

"Mom—" at sinampal niya ako ulit.

"Don't you know that Mr. Vier is a big catch?! Stupid, Zahara! You always disappoint me!"

"M-mom, please just give me another chance, sa susunod ay makukuha ko rin siyang investor natin. Just give me another chance, mommy please." I pleaded. Hahawakan ko na sana ang kamay niya pero iwinakli niya lang 'yon.

I can clearly tell that her eyes are full of anger right now. "You already disappointed me, Zhara! So, what's the point of trying again if you'll just gonna fail again, right!?"

"M-mom, just trust me. I will do my best this time."

"I already told you that doing your best isn't enough in this world, Zahara."

"Pero m-mommy."

"Stop! Huwag kang magpapakita sa 'kin." at para namang tinusok ang puso ko sa sakit. Simula bata pa ako ganito na ang pakikitungo niya sa akin.
