We were a good month into school now, everything continued fairly as it was. We even had more people to expand our trio.
Joy, Taemin, and ChoiToday's my birthday, and I woke up early to dress my best.
*outfit*
As I slipped on my shoe I heard a loud bang coming from outside the door. I ran to peep out. It was Khyia and Suah fiddling through things that were supposed to be thrown out before we moved into the new house.
"So much stuff..."
"Don't worry, we'll be done in no time by the time the others get here."
"Guys? Why are you cleaning on a random Friday? We have school soon."
"Yeah, the afternoon. If we start now, we can finish when we get home. Nothing to do today anyway."
"...I see..."
My phone rang. It was my mother.
"You should take that, you look nice today too. Special plans after school?"
"Uh...no I don't think so." I tried to keep the same facial expression, but I cracked and rushed into my room again. "Hey. mom."
"Happy birthday sweetheart! I sent you a package but i don't know when it will get there. It might be a day or two after today."
"Thanks mom, at least someone mentions it."
"Why do you sound so sad?"
"I think Khyia has forgotten my birthday. Suah too."
"Awe....they'll come around. School is stressful, maybe the buildup of school work has made them busy."
"They have time to clean the house of the things that aren't ours...i'm sure there isn't a build up to influence their memory of my birthday." I plopped down onto my bed staring at the ceiling when I got a knock on the door. It was Khyia, holding a gift.
I looked at her and smiled. "You r-"
"Could you take this to Seojun, he's at the record company studio. He finished his album today. Tell him to not open it until he's onlive with his buddies dropping the album."
"No."
"Pleaseeeeee."
She gave me puppy eyes. Almost ignoring the clear hurt on my face.
"I know you don't really want to but I'll do anything if you run this errand for me."
A 'happy birthday' would be nice.
I took the small box and started my way to Seojun's studio. Since we moved closer to the heart of the city, it was easier to walk to places and less taxi fare. It was a great benefit. Plus Seojun didn't have to go far from work to hang with us anymore.
I needed to walk. The open scenery helped me clear my mind and calm me. I was still in disbelief that my best friends didn't remember my birthday. Maybe there will be better luck with Seojun. I don't want to be in a bad mood on my own birthday.
I entered the building and was greeted with small smiles and nods. Of course I returned the gestures.
"SERENN!!"
I turned in slight concern. I didn't know who just screamed my name just then. Until I was tackled onto one of the lounge couches. I knew that raspberry scent anywhere.
"Ah! Joy you don't have to tackle me every time you see me."
"Yes I do, it's so easy to surprise you."
