Aurora:
Hm? A soft purr interrupted my dreams followed by a soft, yet firm, nudge to my shoulder. "Mff. Not now..." I droned. They could give me a few more minutes before training eh? Oh. Nevermind. I sat bolted upright and stared down the mouth of a very large night fury. Toothless, huh. Didn't notice that before. The beast sat before me on its haunches and withdrew its head from my shoulder.
It seemed to be waiting for something. Its head lay cocked to the side as it studied me intently but displayed a goofy smile - hence the missing teeth. I gawked at the dragon's clear intelligence. Its body language, posture, everything, really, reflected its mentality and understanding. Fascinating. I sat there waiting, but nothing. The dragon remained stagnant with its gummy, toothless smile. "What?" I retorted and narrowed my eyes slightly. For the first time in several minutes, it moved.
A revolting gagging sound filled the air and the dragon's head began to rock back and forth as it tilted upwards. I scrambled back, unsure how to proceed. For Thor's sake, don't eat me, I saved you! Despite its seemingly threatening motions, the head of a fish protruded from the dragon's maw and dropped on to the floor with a sickening squelch of spit and grime. "Ewwww! That's gross!" My nose wrinkled in disgust. The dragon sat back on its haunches, its front paws leaving the ground and settling against its ash-spotted stomach. A rumbling purr filled the air once more, and it eyed the fish hopefully before quickly reverting its gaze back to me. "What do you - oh. OH. No! No way! I am not eating that, disgusting!" I shook my head and pinched my nose for effect.
The dragon pouted. It literally pouted. A purr sounded once again with a twinge of sadness. The dragon's ears lay flat on it's head and its irises became large black pools among its bright green background. "Wha- that's not fair. You're doing that on purpose!" I attempted to make the same puppy-dog eyes to the fearsome dragon-like kitten. The ears lay even flatter and the eyes continued to widen and drop very low. "Uh. I'm so gonna regret this..." I muttered. I eyed the fish in disgust, yet reached out hesitantly to grab it by the tail, hoisting it into the air. It's safe to say the dragon's ears were no longer drooping, and its eyes were a much more reasonable size.
"Eh?" I lifted the fish higher and opened my mouth, gulping. "So gross." I swallowed it. Not even chewing, just eating it whole. "Agh! Bleh," I spat out, gagging from the aftertaste. The dragon leaned farther back on its haunches and emitted a new type of purr. A laugh. My eyes widened and I stopped, hastily forgetting about the disgusting not-food I just ate. My lips slowly opened into a smile and I matched the dragon's laugh. I'm laughing with a dragon, how odd.
Toothless:
"Ahahahaha! She just ate the fish, oh my god!" I leaned back and rested my paw against my stomach - the human equivalent of clutching one's stomach while laughing, I think - and tried to control myself to no avail. I'd used my masterful tricks of manipulation to entice the human into the same fate as my once-enemy-now-friend Hiccup. The first time we'd ever met properly, and when I first copied his smile, he'd brought me fish. So, as the very respectable and polite night fury I am, I offered him a bite - after I ate it. I figured it was appropriate to do the same induction tradition with my new friend. She definitely fell for it.
The human looked at me oddly, and I tried to stop laughing with no success. I probably looked even stupider from a human's point of view. However, she promptly returned the smile and began to laugh in tandem. Hiccup. She reminds me of Hiccup. That instantly soured my mood. My ears twitched back to their normal position, if not a little lower, and I immediately stopped laughing. She followed in suit.
Face full of true concern this time, she asked something in what I think is Norse. Well, whatever it is, I don't speak it. I know a few words such as "no", "follow", "plasma blast", etc., and names that I have picked up throughout my adventures. All I picked up was "what's" and wide eyes. She shuffled a bit closer as to ask "what's wrong" - I think that's what she asked. I whined and flung my head towards the sea, rattling my ears as a signal. Maybe she'd get the message? I need to save Hiccup...
She turned her head and followed my line of sight toward the sea, or rather, Berk. "Hmm? - go - ?" I threw my head again and nuzzled towards her, angling my head towards her torso, whining again. "Ok, ok! -" She held her hands up uncomfortable, placing them at the base of my neck. "Um... - - here and here..." she muttered while placing her feet in very uncomfortable places against my wings and legs until she was settled in my saddle. Eventually, after becoming comfortable, I stood up higher and spread my wings, preparing to fly. Agh! Her grubby fingers grabbed at my sensitive ears yet again and pulled. I growled lowly. "Sorry! Sorry..." she muttered but only ever so slightly released me.
I stood there, like an idiot, waiting for the familiar click of the tail which never came. I pouted, rolled my every so cute eyes and growled once more. My tail thrashed once on the rocks below, emitting a loud clang of metal against rock. She spun around and studied the tail for a moment. "Oh- ok." Her eyes followed the trail of the string leading from the base of my tail, up to my stomach, and to the stirrup, where her eyes finally rested. They lit up in understanding, and she cautiously moved her foot to fit the stirrup. Click. We were gone, off to rescue Hiccup.
