Taeyeon's point of view
"Youngie!" I called out Wooyoung's name as soon as I spotted him in the meadow. He was lying against a tree, and the expression he had on his face was one of calmness that did not change even though I was pretty sure he had heard me. I mean, how could he not when I called out so loudly?
Annoyed, I called him yet again, expecting a response this time. Seeing a lack of response from him a second time, I frowned, wondering what on earth was wrong.
The worst situations suddenly came to mind as my mind went wild. Could something bad have happened to him? No, it can't be!
"Youngie!" I called another time, almost pleadingly, hoping for a reaction. After what seemed like eternity, Wooyoung seemed to stir and a frown came onto his face. Seeing a reaction from him, I immediately heaved a sigh of relief. I watched him as he slowly opened his eyes and stared in blank space for a while, trying to adjust to the light. He looked adorable like that but that is besides the point, hehe.
His gaze then found me, and his eyes widened. It was evident he did not believe what he saw, and I gave a smirk at the dumbfounded expression he had on his face. He then broke out into the biggest smile I've seen all these years. I could not help but smile back as well.
He quickly got up on his feet, before he bit his lip to contain his smile. He started walking closer towards me.
"Taeyeon-ah, what are you doing here?"
Aish, this guy. What do you think I'm doing here?!
Instead of answering his question, I directed the question back at him. "Then what are you doing here?"
He looked confused. "Me? I'm... taking a nap."
His answer made me laugh. "Here? I'm pretty sure you have a bed at home."
"Well... it's not as comfortable." He answered sheepishly.
"Pabo."
The atmosphere between us turned slightly awkward once our conversation ended as we both did not know what to say. We just looked in different directions in silence, occasionally sneaking a peek at each other. It was a long while before any of us spoke, and Wooyoung broke the silence by holding out his hand.
"Let's go for a walk!" He said a little too brightly, which made me giggle. Wooyoung wasn't usually like this. I then placed my hand on his, and our fingers intertwined. Our hands fit perfectly.
We continued our walk in silence but this time, the silence was comfortable and we both enjoyed each other's presence. The scenery around us was beautiful and the weather was perfect. We came across a patch of purple flowers growing near a tall, sturdy tree and I immediately stopped in my tracks to admire them, because purple flowers are my favorite. Wooyoung noticed and he stopped as well.
"They are so pretty!" I cooed, as I let go of his hand for a moment to bend down and smell the pretty purple flowers.
Wooyoung bent down as well, and plucked a blooming purple flower before giving it to me.
"Yah! You're not supposed to pluck them!"
Wooyoung was taken aback before he put on an indignant expression. "Look who's the one talking! How about all those times when you plucked almost every flower you laid your eyes on?"
"That was different!"
"How different is it? It's the same action!"
"It was for my collection! And how old were we then, we were probably only ten!" I argued back.
"Hmph." Wooyoung seemed really upset and I realized I was overreacting. This argument was totally unnecessary - he was just trying to be nice to me. I then took the flower he held his hand and placed it above my right ear.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have upset you." I muttered apologetically with my head hung low.
Wordlessly, he pulled me into his arms and hugged me tightly. I was surprised because it was so sudden, but it felt nice being in his arms. I felt at home.
"I'm sorry too. We're arguing even on a day like this. I'm just... really, really happy you're here with me, Taeng." He murmured into my ear. Touched, I buried my face into his chest and held him even more tightly in response. I poured all my feelings into that hug, hoping that he received them and he seemed to have understood. We stood like that for a while, before we broke apart and looked at each other.
He then leaned closer towards me and I suddenly became so unbelievably shy. I could feel my face burning and my heart racing faster as he approached me slowly. I closed my eyes, waiting for what was about to come when I suddenly heard a splat sound and a groan from Wooyoung. Surprised and albeit disappointed, my eyes fluttered open, only to see Wooyoung looking at his right shoulder in disgust. I peered over to see what he was looking at and I almost had a laughing fit after I saw what it was.
"Yah, Kim Taeyeon! Stop laughing, it's not funny!" Wooyoung had the most hilarious expression on his face - it was like he didn't know whether to laugh or cry! I couldn't help but laugh until tears came out of my eyes and my stomach ached. Eventually he also started laughing along with me and it took a long time before we stopped.
"That was hilarious!!!" I said, wiping the tears off my face, still clutching my stomach.
"Was not! How is getting bird poop on your shoulder funny?! I laughed because you laughed!" Wooyoung replied, with a hint of a smile on his face. He took out a piece of tissue and started cleaning his suit.
"The timing and the look on your face was epic! Guess today is your lucky day." I laughed again, ready to burst into a fit again at the thought of Wooyoung's expression.
"Yah, yah, yah! No more laughing or I'll wipe this on you!" Wooyoung threatened playfully, holding up the tissue that now contained the bird poop he had cleaned off.
"You dare to?" I tilted my head upwards and challenged him.
"Try me!" Wooyoung ran towards me with the tissue. My expression turned from smug to horrified. I quickly gathered my dress and ran away from him.
The wedding dress I was wearing really made running so difficult for me and sure enough, he caught me in a back hug almost immediately. Wooyoung was showing a lot of skinship today - it was unusual but I'm not complaining, hehe.
"YAH!!! You can't do this to me!" I yelled while laughing, trying to struggle out of his grip but to no avail. He then made me face him, and I could tell he was not joking anymore. I looked into his eyes, becoming serious as well. He brushed a loose strand of hair that was on my face aside and tucked it behind my ear.
"I love you." Wooyoung suddenly confessed and I blushed furiously.
"I... I love you too, Youngie." Those words were so difficult to say and I could barely look into his eyes. Once I said them, I felt so shy and embarrassed. Finally hearing the words from me, he smiled in response. It was honestly the cutest smile I have ever seen and it made me want to pinch his mandoo cheeks. He then started leaning closer again, tilting his head when our noses touched. I closed my eyes in anticipation. I'm pretty sure there are no words to fully describe everything - the feeling that washed over me at that moment when our lips finally touched, the way he wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me closer, deepening the kiss. There was this bubbly warmth that filled me on the inside, and at the same time, everything felt right. I have a word in mind, but even that doesn't quite hit the spot.
Perfect. That's the closest word I have.
