The most hated day of the week has arrived. The seven boys, who lived in the dorms, spent their time in the playroom.
They sat relaxed on the floor, talking and playing with each other until one of the workers knocked on their room door. A chilling silence hung in the room, as the boys knew exactly who stood behind the door. It was one of those people who worked here. They always wore white suits that covered their whole body from head to toe ,they looked just like astronauts resembling the toys laying on the room floor.
Jake and Heeseung said it wasn't always like this in the orphanage. They lived here the longest and were from the first batch of kids who came to this orphanage, they said that all of this strangres started one year after they arrived here and lived with the other childrens.
The group friendship happened fast, the very moment their eyes met on the first day they just knew they were going to stick with each other no matter what , their connection was instant and since then they were inseparable from one another.
They promised that even if someone comes to adopt them and be a part of a new family that they will send letters and meet up and do everything they can to keep in touch with each other.
Another knock came from the door and Jack was the one who reluctantly stood up to open the door to the suit wearing man.
The moment the man took a step in , a heavy feeling was in the room. The man didn't say much, as always and made a gesture with his hand to the hall direction. Sunoo hugged his teddy bear tightly in his arms, pressing it strongly to his chest. He shivered slightly from fear, he had the teddy bear since the first day he came to the orphanage.
Heeseung, the oldest of the group, stood up from the sofa and smiled brightly at Sunoo.
"Everything will be fine. We are just going to take medicine that will make us healthier and stronger, don't be afraid" Hesseung whispered gently to Sunoo trying to calm him down and reassure him as he held out his hand to help Sunoo get up .
Sunoo still sat fearfully on the couch hesitant to stand, he shakily grabbed Heeseung outstretched hand. The others also got up from the couch and stood up frigidly and lifelessly and left the room in a line following the man. Their faces had no expression on and their eyes were stone cold.
Every step was quiet as they walked down the hall. The old dusty windows showed the bright sun that spread light into the cold desolate orphanage illuminating the hall and giving some warmth to the children.
Jungwon like always was the first in the line right behind the man in the white suit. Jungwon and Ni-ki were the youngest , but something in Jungwon was special, he had a strong aura surrounding him ,like he was born to be something more.
The man stopped just as they arrived in the cafeteria. As they entered the employees told them to join the rest of the childrens, and stand in the line for the usual medical examination and tests. The cafeteria was silent, not a word was spoken between the kids. Everyone stood frozen in their place and did what they were told, even the noisy and hyper kids like Jay and Sungoon didn't act like their usual self. After the children finished with their exams they were given medicine pills that they had to take. No one dared to refuse or throw a tantrum and every single one of the children swallowed the pill with a bitter expression .
The orphanage didn't accommodate many childrens. Most of the rooms had only a few children in them, giving them a lot of space contrary to the usual orphanage, which had many children sleeping in the same room that was packed in beds with no room to maneuver .
The cafeteria windows were big but covered with thick white curtains which didn't let the sun leak through it, making the cafeteria seem eerie and gloomy. The kids didn't know why those people wearing the hazmat suit started to appear here , what did they want from them ? Why did they have them do so many health checks and tests, and why did they make them take those pills ? Even when they asked their caretaker no one really gave them an explanation .Why would they ? They were only small children, insignificant in their eyes.
