Twins bound by ice and fire

Chapter 5: Fever

Third person POV

It had been a month since the twins were separated from their mother, during that time they had said their first word 'mama' which they kept on repeating as if they wanted to go back to her, every time one of the twins crawled up to Elize repeating the word it broke her heart as she wanted to take them to her but she was still posing as a servant in his house meaning any actions that went against the orders of endeavour could get her fired and even further away from completing her mission.

It was an early sunday morning when Elize noticed, she had entered into the twins room and was going with the intention of taking the twins to have their baths, however when she reached their cot and peered inside she found that something was wrong immediately, izukus skin which was usually a fair complexion was now pink and shouto was now deathly pale, and they were clinging to each other in their sleep.

Elize carefully picked them up making sure not to wake them and headed straight to endeavours office, while holding them she noticed that izuku was burning hot and shouto was as cold as ice, she knocked on the door and entered immediately after she hurt a grunt signalling she could come in.

"Master the twins!, they seem to be greatly unwell!"

"WHAT!"

He diverted his attention away from the paperwork stacked up in-front of him and to the infants she was carrying, needless to say a professional doctor was called and the verdict was given immediately.

"Hmm...there's no need to worry, this is simply just a side affect of their quirks, their bodies are underdeveloped and likely can't handle their powerful quirks resulting in a fever, this will likely happen multiple times during their childhood and possibly a few more in their teens and adulthood but all you need to do is make sure that you cool them down or heat them up depending on their symptoms, for example izuku needs some cooling down whilst shouto needs to be warmed up."

"So you're saying the twins are going to develop powerful quirks?"

A wide grin creeped onto endeavours face and the room seemed to turn colder.

"Well yes, although im not sure what it will be im sure that it will likely have to do with ice and fire like their parents, on that note, i would likely say that it would be best to leave the children in the care of their mother at times like these as from what i know she has an ice quirk paired with abnormally high body temperature meaning that she is in the perfect position to cool down or warm up the twins as long as they are nearby."

The doctor then left the room after bowing respectfully to endeavour.

"Bring her"

There was no further explanation needed and Elize excused herself from the room immediately heading in the direction of the north wing where Rei was located.

Rei's POV

It...had been over a month, i looked outside of the window into the courtyard were i saw fuyumi and Natsuo playing with a ball their smiles, bright.

'How long had it been since i last talked to them?'

They were my children that i birthed but for some reason it seemed that we lived in opposite worlds, dimensions even, i moved away from the window and lay down on my bed reflecting on how i spent the time in this room. The first week i spent crying, begging, pleading and fighting to get shouto and izuku back, the second i refused to eat until they let me see the twins but that didn't get me far...they force fed me...it was a horrible experience and i could not speak a few days afterwards the third week was better i had come to accept what had happened and I realised that the twins would be in good hands...atleast until their quirks developed and now in the fourth week things have been better, touya has been visiting me regularly, he seems distant however but he always flashes a bright smile whenever i call out to him.

Suddenly the door was unlocked and opened i looked towards it expecting Touya to walk in however instead Elize did! I hadn't seen her since the twins left and for some reason she adorned a smile on her usually blank face.

"Madam! You may see the twins"

I sprung up from the bed and hugged her tears already forming in my eyes, despite how i tried to accept that the twins were gone i knew i could never truly accept it but now...now i can see them again and this time i wont stand by idly letting anyone take the away from me.

"Madam we must hurry!"

I wiped the tears of my face and looked straight into Elize's eyes i grasped her hand and she lead me out of the room i had been confined in for so long and into the corridor and we headed to the south wing where the twins were presumably located.

Third person POV

The pair walked in silence till they reached their destination, Elize moved to the side of the door and Rei gave her hand one last squeeze before letting go and heading into the room, she caught sight of the twins resting in their cot next to each other and she dashed towards them before carefully picking them up and cradling them in her arms.

"You are to ensure that they are properly catered for, if i find out that they come to any harm under your care you will regret it , do you hear me woman!"

Rei who had already been reduced to a sobbing mess only managed to nod her head vigorously as any words coking out of her mouth would be incomprehensible.

Endeavour left the room not wanting to have his precious time wasted any longer by some woman, but before he disappeared he told Elize to inform her of of the twins condition.
