Matthew...

A sudden rush of memories come back at full force making me wince. Everything I have tried to remember for years has finally come to me. Well, almost everything. There is one tiny thought in the corner of my mind that I can't bring to memory still, but I decide it doesn't matter, whatever it is, it will come to me eventually.

Matthew looks like he's seen a ghost. In a lot of ways, I guess he has. I mean, I was supposed to be dead, at least to him and everyone else I knew, and here I am standing in a closet with him.

"Tris?" He says slowly, looking over me, reaching out a finger as if to poke me to make sure I actually exist. I give a small smile backing away a little.

"Yes, I am real. There is no reason to have to make sure." I joke. He looks down at his finger before lowering his hand, embarrassed.

"Sorry." He says blushing, looking at the floor.

"It's fine." I tell him.

"But, I don't understand. How are you still alive? We spread your ashes over the marsh!" He insists.

"I honestly don't know." I tell him because it's true. If they supposedly spread my ashes then I shouldn't even be here. I try not to think about that fact too much. I instead focus on what I really want to know, at least for the time being, so I ask.

"Well, it's complicated. It's exactly what we've been working towards. The government is okay with it, so long as we remain peaceful, letting the the government continue with their experiments. Everyone is very happy living this way." He explains.

It sounded nice. I could easily imagine the new society.

"It's kind of hard to explain." He shrugs apologetically.

"That's okay." I tell him with an ounce of disappointment.

He appears to be thinking over something. I look at him curiously. "Do you live around he?" He asks.

"Umm, yes." I say not knowing where he was going with this.

"So I could assume that there is a great possibility that they know where you live, and they could be waiting for you?" He asks.

"Probably. I guess you have a point." I say still confused. Where was he going with this?

"I do know of a place where they would have a harder chance of finding you." He looks at me and grins. In that moment I know exactly what he is suggesting.

"Yes, yes please!" I say suddenly excited, bouncing up and down like an Amity toddler. His grin grows into a wide smile. I smile back, wider I'm sure.

"I'm sure I can arrange that. We need to do it fast though, before your spotted again."

Despite the sudden urgenceness in his voice, my smile widens even more.

I am finally going home...
