This is what Sage would look like^^
Thank you so much for reading our story and I'm sorry for any spelling or grammatical errors. Enjoy! My eyes flutter open and I sit up. My hands run through my dyed red hair, trying to unknot some curls. I can hear the muffled voice of my father from downstairs, he seems to be talking on the phone. I begin to descend down the stairs in my polka dot pajamas and peek around the corner.
"Wow. That's great. I'm so proud of her! Tell her I say hi. I think I heard Sage come down the stairs. Yeah. Okay. I'll talk to you later. Okay. Love you. Bye."
I knew exactly who it was. I quickly turn around to try and slip back into my room unnoticed, but then I hear it.
"Sage, honey, are you awake?" My dad asks and I know he is sure I'm up.
"Yes dad," I say coming down the stairs once again. "Who were you talking to?" I say pretending as if I didn't know.
"Just your mother calling to check up and tell us how you're sister is doing." I sigh, my sister, of course.
It always is my sister.
"That's good," I say not wanting to go into details about her life.
My dad makes his famous pancakes for breakfast and I stuff my face. I go upstairs to my room and try to pick out the outfit that draws the least attention to myself. When I finally get that figured out, I put it on and head downstairs.
"Dad! I'm ready!" I called.
"Okay sweetie, I'm coming." He said descending the stairs.
We headed out his old beat up truck and hopped in. On the way to school we listened to old songs and talk about the times when our family was whole and not separated across the country. I may miss the rest of my family, but I'm glad I have my dad. He's the one that's always cared for me and taught me so much. My personality is a reflection of his. Finally, we pull up to the school and our time together ends.
"Bye dad, I'll see you later. Don't be late when you pick me up." I said laughing slightly, remembering last year how I had to wait over an hour and a half for him. He clearly got my joke and said:
"No promises you know, something else might come up." His tone was joking but his eyes said different. I automatically caught on to what he was saying and forced a smile. I could tell he was tired and could hear him sometimes at night on the computer or pacing the hall. I knew he was stressed.
"Alright then, I'll see you later." I say closing the door and stepping back as he drove out of the parking lot.
I turn around and get a good look at California Prep High School. It's exactly as I remembered it. The same tan brick prison...I mean building. Yeah, thats what I meant. Back for yet another year, I think and begin to stroll down the walkway to school.
