Hey! Thanks for reading my story! Sorry for any spelling or grammar errors! Hope you enjoy! -E❤️
I repeatedly tap my pencil on the hard surface of my desk, anxious to get out of this never-ending class. My teacher, an old balding man, drones on in the front, pacing back and forth. My classmates are whispering and casting longing looks at the clock, urging the bell to ring. Everyone is restless and eager for the next period, lunch. A chorus of rumbling stomachs fill the room and finally the bell rings. They all spring out of their seats as if they are on fire and rush to the door. I, on the other hand, take my time to collect my books, careful to avoid the traffic at the doorway.
Suddenly panic strikes me.
Who would I sit with at lunch?
Would it be like all the movies?
Will I have to sit alone?
Maybe Ava or Sage will let me sit with them.
But what if their friends don't like me?
What if---
Stop Sky. Don't be negative.
I begin the long journey to the lunchroom, my stomach churning and my anxiety growing with every step.
I walk through the double doors and my eyes sweep around the cafeteria. Some eyes were staring back and mine, judging or just curious, while others seem uninterested or are to consumed in conversations with their friends.
Suddenly waving hands appear in my line of sight. They look like they're waving at me. They're probably waving to someone else. I look behind me to see no one. Then I recognize them. Ava and a couple of other girls that I don't know are waving. I give them a shy smile and begin to walk over to the half filled table.
"Hi! It's nice to meet you! My names Sophie! Welcome to our group! You're going to fit right in!" Says a pretty blonde girl who is apparently named Sophie.
Ava rolls her eyes. "You're always the welcoming committee, aren't you Sophie?"
"I can't help it Ava, it's not my fault I'm nice." She replies sticking her tongue out childishly. The rest of the table laughs and I can't help the shy chuckle that escapes my mouth.
"Here sit down." Says Ava, moving her stuff over to clear a spot for me.
Sophie gasps, grabbing our attention. "Oh how silly of me! You need to meet the rest of our friends! So you already know Sage--"
"And me!" Says Ava and I nod in reply.
"Well obviously. This is Alex Mitchell."
She says pointing to the girl sitting next to her.The girl offers me a small wave before going back to reading what looks to be some kind of sports playbook.
Her chocolate brown hair is up in a high ponytail, a stretchy athletic headband holding back a couple small brown strands. Her matching chocolate brown eyes scan over the words and numbers in the playbook with concentration. Dark lashes frame her eyes and there is a splash of freckles across her nose. She is wearing what looks to be a jersey. Maybe it was her boyfriend's? I could ask her about it later.
"Next to Alex is Victoria and her twin brother Wesley."
Victoria and Wesley seemed very deep in conversation with the another boy that I didn't know. You could definitely tell that the two of them were related though, they had lots of similar traits. The same silver eyes, same sleek black hair, and same lopsided grins that hold mischief.
I see a splash of red from the corner of my eye trying to push through the mass of bodies throughout the cafeteria.
It's Sage.
