Inei turned the page, her eyes slowly making their way down the inked words.

She was slowly beginning to fall asleep to the soft sounds of breathing behind her, and the warmth that Az provided with his arm wrapped lazily around her torso.

She smiled softly as his breath tickled the tips of her ears, and she knew that he was doing it on purpose.

“Sorry.” She murmured, returning to the previous page. He liked to mess with her in some way whenever she turned a page too quickly for him to keep up.

He had found the book for her, tossing it on their bed after returning from dinner, and once she had begun reading it, he crawled under the covers behind her, holding her body to his, and reading together.

She hadn’t ever experienced the sort of dizzying pleasure from the simple act, let alone the pure intimacy of it all.

The slight shift of his fingers was the only signal she needed to turn to the next page again.

When they finished the chapter, Inei closed the book and closed her eyes, enjoying herself.

“I think I have a good spot picked out for the ceremony tomorrow.” Azriel said quietly, and Inei hummed.

She was going to be mated tomorrow.

She honestly still couldn’t believe it.

Part of her wanted to shout it as loud as she could, to tell the whole world that she found her mate, and that he was hers.

The other part of her wanted to hold Azriel to her, and never let go.

His fingers twitched as he no doubt sensed her thoughts, but she said, “I decided on a dress. Marianne, the seamstress we went to, helped pick this really pretty fabric, and then she had me try on a few different styles before we found one that I looked good in.”

Azriel nipped at her ear. “You look good in everything, my love.”

“Yeah I know, but this one looks extra good on me. Even Mor thought it was gorgeous.” She replied, and Az smiled.

“Oh, and we also stopped by another shop and picked out some other decorations like flowers and food. Hopefully everything matches..”

He reached up to brush a twisted strand of hair out of her face. “I’m sure it will all be fine. I trust my family to match things up and finalize details.” She sighed.

“I wish that it wasn’t so sudden,” She admitted and he raised a brow. She watched a few of his shadows appear from the corners of the room, drifting around the furniture, the only sign of his emotions.

“It’s just that I almost feel like the ceremony is rushed. I know that we wanted to be mated before the full moon, but still..”

He pressed a kiss to her throat, his breath tickling her skin. She held her breath, becoming distracted.

“I know what you mean, but we can always wait if that’s what you want. I love you, and waiting a couple more days won’t change that.”

She shook her head, finding her words. “No.”

“No?” He repeated, and she blushed slightly. “I need to do this now. I don’t want to wait any longer.”

He laughed softly. “Very well then, we will do it tomorrow.”

They both fell silent for a moment, until Azriel asked, “How did you come to love books?”

It was a very random question, one that threw her off for a second before she recovered.
