'Miago...Tegan. What is your guy's ship name?' I smiled across the picnic blanket.

'Why are you more excited like you're the girl I asked out? Tiago laughed.

'Because I've waited for the time you'd actually fall in love with someone.' I gushed wiping imaginary tears.

'You sound like a mom.' He scrunched. I winked at him remembering how I'd promised to be his mom, his sister even his brother. I was that dedicated to our friendship. Although we fought every other second, each other is all we had. When I really think about it, Tiago has been with me ever since we met in high school. Through Eldon's accident, to my accident and the complicated civil war in Riker's company. Tiago stood by my side through all that.

After the picnic where I inevitably third wheeled, Tiago took us to a beautiful resort area. I'd never even been to one of those. 'How do you feel?' Megan asked me. 'I feel no pain at all but I'm kind of stiff on the abs.' She assured me that that side effect was totally normal.

'Better enjoy the next 24 hours because when the shot wears off, you won't be smiling as much.' I appreciated her brutal honesty. True to say I wasn't looking forward to that. 'Rodger that.' I made my goal to enjoy these last moments. There were a lot of things I hadn't done but one thing I learned from an early death sentence was to live in the present. The past is fixed and the future is unknown. Enjoy the present.

Tiago, Megan and I enjoyed a multitude of activities that the resort had. We went speed boating, parasailing and I tried a jet ski for the first time. With the way I was one with the ocean, I would  definitely rock the beach life. Says a person who almost capsized during the canoeing.

Tiago and Megan were excited to see me horse riding, range shooting and suffering on many different rides. I laughed and smiled content. There was really more to life than I'd seen and known. I wanted to do it all but a day was way too little to do everything.

Before I knew it, it was already night and we had to go back to our rooms. My mood dissipated. 'Well don't be pouting yet, there's still one more thing on today's agenda.' Tiago gestured for me too cheer up. 'What is it?' I asked curiously. 'Just wait and see.' Megan replied.

It wasn't just Tiago. Even Megan had planned this day for me to enjoy. I really appreciated the two. Megan took me back to the room where she had laid a whole outfit on the bed. At first glance, I shook my head no. 'Trust me.' Megan laughed jumping on the bed.

I groaned with a little smile that I didn't show. I couldn't wait to live through the night life of Shunn city. Megan grabbed her outfit and began to change. I too stripped and put on the dress and leather jacket. The dress had openings on the sides that exposed more of my bandage than my tummy. I was glad the jacket covered it.

I looked myself in the mirror. My smile widened. I hadn't dressed up in ages, I'd almost forgotten how decent looking I was. 'You look so pretty.' Megan combed her fingers through my long hair.

She sat me down to beautify my already beautiful face. Her words not mine. The girl knew her way around makeup. With minimal colours, brush strokes and sprays to my face, she tilted my chair so that I was facing my reflection. I gasped. Then I struck a pose.

Megan proceeded to torture my hair with a curling iron. At the end of it, I wasn't complaining. My once boring straight hair was curly and voluminous. It took her a few minutes to adorn herself just as impressively.
