Stardust was too panicked to realize where she was going. It did not go into her brain that she was galloping farther away from her herd or that she was going up hill. The only thing on her mind was getting away from the mouse. Just the thought made her shiver.

Back at the spot where Cobalt and Honeysuckle, Cobalt was getting anxious. Honeysuckle was still sleeping peacefully, unaware that her best friend had left her because of a mouse. Cobalt wondered how far Stardust had gotten and if she was still going. She had marvelous stamina that no horse he had seen could match her for that long. Cobalt tried eating but that was an activity that needed calmness, he was really restless. Cobalt would pace up and down between two trees. He tried to wake Honeysuckle up but that stubborn mare would not wake up. He debated whether or not he should go after Stardust or stay and wait for Honeysuckle. Stardust would be mad at him if he left the young mare to fend for herself in the giant forest. It would also be selfish if he went after his crush. Honeysuckle was still sleeping. How long was the beauty queen going to sleep? Does she not know that Stardust is running wild out there? Cobalt thought.

Finally Honeysuckle woke up from her deep slumber. She looked around for Stardust but only saw Cobalt. Where is Stardust? Honeysuckle asked.

Got spooked and ran off. I had to wait until you woke up to go after her so lets go. BUt no they could not because Honeysuckle was hungry. Cobalt had to wait even more until she was full. Yes we will now be on our way. Cobalt thought. But no then Honeysuckle had to stretch her muscules before trotting. Cobalt started breathing loudly. Honeysuckle got annoyed with his loud breathing and took even slower to stretch. Cobalt stood still and stared at her. Suddenly Honeysuckle took off galloping down the path which Stardust took. Honeysuckle was following her scent. Poor Cobalt had no clue what hit him and was left standing there. He realized a millisecond later that Honeysuckle was galloping away from him. He took off after her. It did not take long for the big black horse to catch up with the mare.

The ground finally leveled out into a little clearing. That was when Stardust decided that she was far enough away from the mouse. She walked around the clearing, to one side was a cliff that landed in a lake that had a waterfall crashing into it and the water was draining into a river. Stardust walked along side the river until she hit a small moutain blocking her path. The rest was flat landed that had a few clusters of trees further away. Stardust halted at the edge of the cliff and down and out to the water below her. The water mesmerized her. It was a nice aqua blue and the fog at the end of the waterfall was one of the prettiest things she had ever seen. She was so focused on the water she did not hear the angry bear walking up behind her.

Cobalt and Honeysuckle kept trotting further, following the scent on the missing third to the trio. Slowly the trail started to steepen. The two horses had to stop multiple times while climbing up due to how steep it was. How did Stardust get up this so fast if she took this path? thought Cobalt while they were climbing. Finally they reached a small flat ledge just off the path to take a break. The ledge had some grass growing on it and the horses took turns eating up the sweet green grass. Once the grass was gone, they carried on walking up the hill.

Up on the cliff, Stardust was still looking out in the distance when she heard a loud angry growl behind her. Out of instinct she kicked out, she hit the bear in the nose. When the bear turned his head to the side due to the pain from the kick, Stardust turned around and saw that it was a very hungry, angry bear. She quickly ran to the other side of the clearing. The bear was right on her heels. Stardust stopped before the path that went down hill, she turned and faced the bear. The bear rose on his hind legs and slapped the air. Stardust turned around and back kicked the bear in the stomach. The bear swiped the air again this time hitting Stardust. Stardust was knocked to the ground and slid a few feet away. Now she had a huge gash that was bleeding on her rump and many bruises from when she slid on the ground. The bear came running at the fallen mare, Stardust had just enought time to get on her feet before the bear was a few feet away from her. Stardust quickly galloped to the bear and sank her teeth hard into his skin. The bear let out a loud whimper but the bite had made him more angry. The bear chased her towards the cliff. Stardust stopped at the edge of the cliff, there was nowhere to the run and the bear was running towards her.

With the bear charging towards Stardust, she made the decision to turn and try and fight the bear head on. With the bear less then two feet away from, out of the corner of her she saw Honeysuckle and Cobalt walking into the clearing. They stopped when they saw the bear. Honeysuckle tried to rush over and help Stardust but Cobalt quickly blocked the golden mare from running into danger to most likely be killed. The bear was now within attacking range and went onto his hind legs. As he was about to hit Stardust, he let out a loud roar. The bear's hand connected with Stardust's chest and the force pushed her over the edge. The last thing she heard was one of her friends letting out a lound painfilled whinny.

Cobalt quickly herded Honeysuckle back down the path so that the bear would not come after them. Honeysuckle was refusing the whole time. Clearly wanting to go help her friend.

Just until the bear leaves then we will go and help her. Cobalt said to Honeysuckle. Inside Cobalt he was really sad and panicked. Had Stardust survived the fall? If she did not he would never forgive himself. He never said he loved her to her face yet.
