I think El is good.
She didn't kill all of the kids, or I don't think so-
I think the duffers are trying to set up the idea that she is evil so they can shock us HOWEVER don't let them fool u.

It's got a sort of scar.
Here's what I think happened:

Portal to upside down opens releasing some type of Demogorgon or monster from it.
Creature runs around ramped killing kids and etc etc. (STOP IM SO SAD ABOUT 10's DEATH ITS INSANE- I DONT EVEN KNOW HIM BUT JESUS-)

So El closes the portal (hence the blood leaking down her eyes.)
And then she gets caught- the scar being the only hint that remains of the portal and leaving her to be blamed.

This would also cue the entire 1st season with the lab portal and them using El to access it.

(This is just a theory but I rlly don't WANT El to be demonic so.. I'm gonna go with this till I find out more.)
