Chapter 5

The afternoon went by like normal at the Fenton's residence, the teens hanged out until their curfew at nine, and Danny's parents weren't seen until the teens were out of the house. But Danny's life is never easy, so when he was about to go to his room to finally rest, his ghost sense went off. While he sprinted to his room, he heard his parent's inventions going off and as they started to prepare to go look for the ghost. He only had a few thoughts before flying off and they included things like keeping his parents safe, getting some stress out and capturing the ghost. The best thing was that it was the Box Ghost, so he was able to finish fast and fly home even before his parents arrived at the scene. It seems that today was meant to be a great day for the young hero and after a few loops in the air; he was in the front door to his house. He made his way to open it, but found that it was close and he couldn't even hear his sister steady breaths with his sensitive ghost hearing. Puzzled, he found a text message from her saying that she had gone to one of her many tutoring lessons and would be staying there overnight. For him that explain everything, since she went out and there was nobody home, she locked the house and knowing he had a key she wasn't worry about closing the house. After all the realizations Danny went to open the door, but heard the RV being parked right in front of the house and he knew he would be in trouble for being out, so with a sign he turn around for the screaming soon to follow.

- Sweetie, could you open the door for us?- said his mom in her sweetest voice

- Su...sure thing, mom.- stutter Danny after a moment of shock

Soon enough, he opened the door for his parents and then closed it behind them, and when he was about to walk off to his room, he felt his mother's hand wrapping itself around his arm. Danny gave a small yelp of surprise, but turned to look at her with quick reflexes, probably thanks to ghost hunting for two years.

- What's wrong, mom?

- Ohh, nothing is wrong. It's just that I thought that you could help us for a little bit down in the lab.- said Maddie acting a bit too sweet for Danny's comfort

- I would just love to help, but tomorrow is a school day and a would like to go to sleep.- responded Danny all the while trying and failing to get out of his mother grip

- Don't worry, it be for only a few minutes and then off to bed.- there, just there she added the puppy eyes and Danny felt like he couldn't escape, so he gave up

- Alright, if it only for a few minutes then I guest its fine.

- Yey, then come on.- said Maddie while pulling him along the way to the lab

Once down in the lab, his Dad started working with some ectoplasm and his mom started working near a cage. Danny went to a table to pretend to clean it up, but his mom called him over.

- Sweet heart, can you come over here?

- Umm, yes, what do you need?- asked Danny while being wary of the cage

- Could you retrieve that tool for me?

- Umm, mom, do you mean the one inside the cage?- asked Danny as he started to panic

- That wasn't the one I was talking about, but be a dear and retrieved as well.- said his mom in the most easy going tone that Danny had ever heard

- Alright, but the cage is off, right?

- Of course is off. I would never let you go inside if it wasn't!- exclaim Maddie in a way that almost sounded like she was hurt by the accusation

After that he went in the cage with slow movements. But, who could blame him, if all his internal alarms were going off by this mere action. Then, when he bent down and his fingertips touched the tool, he heard a loud click and a soft humming sound, that he recognize as a ghost shield being turn on. So, ever so slowly he turns around to look at his mom and he knew by her look that his face was one of horrifying fear.

- M...mom, did...did you just...locked me up?

There was only silence and the humming of the ghost shield to be heard. It was nerve wracking and the panic didn't help Danny at all, but the one thing that made Danny pass out was the look on his mother face. A look that said: "you will never leave", and then he knew no more.
