Sophie frowned and looked anywhere but at his face. What would Fitz say if he saw her talking to him?

"I knew you didn't know my name." Sophie muttered, hardly audible.

"What'd you say Suzie?"

She sighed. "Never mind."

His eyes traveled around their surroundings. They seemed to be catching every single detail. Sophie found herself staring and quickly looked down at the table to inspect her chipping light blue nail polish.

"As much as I like a good stink bomb, isn't it kind of hard to eat your lunch over here?"

Sophie didn't respond. He shrugged and pulled his own lunch out. She could feel the stares of everyone in the lunchroom. Why was Keefe Sencen, the hot, popular soccer boy, sitting with a random weird girl by the trash cans? Sophie herself was secretly wondering the same thing.

"You've beat the record by the way."

Keefe looked up at her momentarily before taking a large bite out of his pepperoni pizza.

"The record?"

"I've never talked to- or in this case sat next to- a girl who hasn't spilled their whole sob story on me in less than two minutes. It's been.." He looked at the watch on his right wrist, "Two minutes and thirty-five seconds since I've sat down."

Sophie stared blankly at him before rolling her eyes. Did he seriously not remember elementary school? Elementary school whenever he wasn't popular. Elementary school when she was the new kid and he was the sweet boy who played with her on the playground. Elementary School that went by far too quickly. Middle School came around and he moved to Europe for two years. He came back and was instantly the most liked kid in eighth grade. The most liked, and apparently the most forgetful, because that was the day Sophie lost her best friend. That was the day Keefe Sencen forgot Sophie Foster existed. He never talked to her, never hung around her, never even laid his eyes on her.

Well there's her sob story. A sob story he obviously didn't want to hear. A sob story she obviously didn't want to share. What's the point? Would he miraculously remember her name if she told him they were besties in Kindergarten through Fifth grade? She didn't think so.

"Well good for you I guess. You found a girl who doesn't think you're the sun and stars of this highschool."

"The Sun and the Stars... that has a nice ring to it. Keefe Sun-and-Stars Sencen."

"You need help."

"I do, thanks for noticing. But... I think you need some help too. You seem to either have eaten all your lunch in," he looked at his watch again, "like ten minutes, which I doubt since you just had a little... er.. Conversation with Fitzy, or you forgot your lunch."

Before Sophie could lie and she did in fact already eat her lunch he handed her a slice of pizza and a piece of chocolate from inside his bag.

"And don't try to lie and say you already ate. I can tell when you're lying."

Keefe winked at her as he took another large bite of his own slice of pizza.

Sophie's face felt hot and was probably red, but she ate her pizza in silence and watched him as he watched her. He was keeping some secret. She knew he was. I can tell when you're lying. Her best friend used to say that to her all of the time. Keefe used to say that to her all of the time. Did he remember? Or does he say that to every girl he meets?

Sophie set her crust down and Keefe took that as a signal to eat it for her. She didn't mind. She never liked the crusts.

"I've always liked pizza crusts."

I know Keefe. I know I know IknowIknowIknowIknow.

"You remember, don't you?"

He laughed. "Remember what?"

"My name."

His smirk dropped to a genuine smile as the bell rang for the fourth period. He got up and left the lunch room without answering her question.
