"What about Matt?" Chris was acting confused, but Sienna could tell that he knew what she was talking about.

"I'm talking about what happened in the bathroom at the dance." Chris didn't say anything, plotting how he could explain it to her. "Look, I actually like Josh, so I'd appreciate it if you guys wouldn't try and play matchmaker for Matt and I. I'm not mad, but just be careful about who you say stuff in front of."

"Matt said that you said someth-" Sienna cut him off before he could finish what he was saying, hoping that no one could overhear their conversation.

"I know what Matt said. I didn't mean to say anything, it just slipped out..." Sienna's head was on a pivot as she contemplated what to say next. "Just... I need you guys to forget about that."

Chris nodded, obviously not happy with how the conversation had gone. "You can always talk to me, Sienna." She nodded, but didn't respond.

Chris turned to find Mae, so Sienna followed his lead and left to look for Josh. She found him in the kitchen with Jake, chatting in the corner. When she approached, Josh instantly pulled her into him, his arm over her shoulders.

"Jake, have you met Sienna yet?" The kitchen was crowded, with people bumping into each other every two seconds, so Sienna was basically standing on top of Josh.

"Briefly. Hi, Sienna." Jake was too out of it to really realize what was going on.

She leaned up to whisper in Josh's ear, hoping to leave the kitchen before she got a drink spilled on her, but she was pulled away by Claire before she could say anything. "Girl, you need to go talk to Matt..."

Sienna didn't say anything, just nodded and followed Claire through the house. She found him sitting on the front steps, his head in his hands.

"He's a little bit drunk, like sad drunk."

Sienna sat next to him on the stairs, leaving enough distance that they weren't touching, but they could talk without others overbearing.

"Hey, Matt. You okay?" She fought the urge to rub his shoulder, not wanting to lead him on or anything. (Even though she basically already had.)

When he looked up, she saw the dried tears that had tracked down his face. "Oh, I'm completely fine, Enna. Why wouldn't I be?" His tone was sarcastic, like he was mocking her a little.

"Matt, if you're not going to talk to me I'm going to leave." She wanted to help him, he was her best friend after all, but she couldn't handle more of the attitude that he'd had for the past few weeks.

"Did you mean what you said in the car? That you liked me back?" His words were quiet, like he wasn't sure if he wanted her to hear them. She sat back a little, thinking about how to answer.

"I mean... yeah." She didn't want to admit her feelings, but at this point it would hurt them both more to lie. "But, I have a boyfriend. I can't just pretend that I don't."

"I know, but like..." He trailed off, reaching for a cup beside him, which Claire took out of his hand before he could drink it. "If you meant it, then why are you with him?" He spat out the last word. Him. Obviously he meant Josh.

"Because I'm confused, Matt! I really think I like him, but I like you too. I don't fucking know. This wasn't supposed to be this complicated."

Matt didn't respond for a moment, just trying to gather his thoughts. When he did open his mouth to speak, he hesitated, then threw up on the stairs.

"Claire, can you go get him some water?" She turned back to Matt, moving closer to rub his back a little. "Here, I'll get Sidney to take you home."

"Enna, I can't go home like this. You know how pissed my mom would get."

"I'll call my mom..."

Twenty minutes later, Sienna sat at her desk while Matt was sound asleep in her bed. She wasn't sure exactly when he had fallen asleep, but it was pretty soon after he laid down. She'd agreed to sleep in the living room tonight to appease her parents. They weren't too fond of the idea of having Matt sleep over, but they wanted to help him out.

She got up from her chair, grabbing some pajamas to change into in the bathroom, and made her way toward the door.

"Enna?" Matt's muffled voice came from the bed.

"Yeah?"

"I'm sorry. Like really sorry."

"I know, Matt." She closed the door behind and left to change.

She debated texting Josh. It felt like the right thing to do considering everything that had happened over the course of the night. She'd asked Claire to tell him that she was leaving, but she didn't know how much information she had decided to tell him other than that.

Sienna: hey just so you know matt is sleeping at my house
Sienna: not a big deal, just wanted to make sure you knew

Josh didn't respond, and Sienna didn't know if that was a good thing or a bad thing. She couldn't tell if he hadn't seen the text or if he wasn't responding because he was upset. She hoped he didn't mind, but she wasn't sure. It was different than if it was Chris or Nick, they hadn't just professed their love to her. She eventually put her phone on the charger and laid down.

{note: sorry for the wait, lowkey forgot to post this chapter lol. do i write a chapter from josh's perspective?? maybe 🤔 high key really debating it, like already wrote some of it debating it. idk ig we'll find out. thanks luvs xx}
