"Y/n!"

Louis's voice called out across the club room, smooth and commanding as ever. He stood by the corner, arms crossed with that usual air of calm superiority. I'd barely had time to catch my breath from helping Legoshi with the lighting setup before Louis waved me over like I was some VIP with front-row tickets to another one of his brilliant ideas.

Legoshi caught my eye and gave me a soft, apologetic smile paired with a polite little nod that clearly said "good luck."

"What's up?" I asked, already suspicious.

Louis smiled, too smoothly. "Just wanted to let you know you'll be filling in for dance crew at the festival. We're short a dancer. One of the raccoons came down with the flu."

I blinked. "No way." I knew it. The second I got that passive-aggressive text from him last night, I had a feeling he was scheming something. Here it was. Manifested.

"You've done dance rehearsals before. I don't see how it would be an issue," he said matter-of-factly. "Besides, the audience would love to see a human on stage again."

I rolled my eyes. "I think you care a little too much about what the audience wants and not enough about what I want."

His smile wavered into a mild frown. "The school's image is crucial to uphold," he said, his tone dipping into that dramatic theater cadence of his. "When you join this club, you agree to take on certain tasks, however odd, however inconvenient. It's part of the job. And Y/n... you're the only person in this entire school who talks back to me like this."

I smirked. "You say that like it's a bad thing."

His gaze lingered, unblinking, and then of course, he dropped the curveball.

"I find it quite... alluring."

My brain hit a minor glitch.

He cleared his throat. "Let's get lunch today. I want to have another conversation with you. We can go over the festival details then."

Oh sure. Lunch. With Louis. Just another one of his "totally casual, not power-play at all" conversations.

Bill's POV:

"You're so strong, Bill. Always such a great help," Kai said, watching me finish stacking the last box of lights and random festival junk like I hadn't just carried half the storeroom on my back.

"Yeah, don't mention it," I muttered, brushing him off with a half-smile. My eyes weren't on him anyway, they were locked across the room.

On her.

Y/n was standing with Louis. Which wouldn't have been suspicious if Louis didn't have that weird little smirk on his face. The deer never smiles unless he's plotting a revolution or trying to charm a committee. And right now? He looked like a walking romance novel cover; smug, polished, and dangerously polite.

I casually drifted closer. Not eavesdropping, of course. Just... hovering. You know. Like a concerned classmate.

"...Let's get lunch together today. I wish to have another conversation with you. We can go over the details then," Louis said, all smooth and rehearsed like he was auditioning for a date instead of a club meeting. I didn't catch what Y/n said back, but she left him standing there like he didn't just drop an entire flirt grenade. She walked back over to where Legoshi was fiddling with the lights, and I, being the very calm and totally not territorial tiger I am followed.

She turned to face me, and I hit her with my best attempt at an effortless smile, the kind that was supposed to say "hey" but probably screamed "what did Louis want and do I need to fight him?"
