Locklynn is a teenage girl, but with a family who doesn't care about her, that is until she runs away and meets Devin, a boy her age with a connection to wolves.
Locklynn POV Me and Devin are looking in all the stores "Shop cheap" I say to myself "You only have $10.00" as we are shopping I found the uniform I need for school which starts next week.

I check the price tag and realize it's $8.98 "well there goes all my money." I think to myself "Just wait till you go to a thrift store and maybe you can find something cheap." I tell myself "it doesn't hurt to look though" I think excitedly looking at all the other clothes but putting them all back after seeing their prices. Devin POV As we shop I take note of everything Locklynn picks up and puts back. It's obvious she wants some of these clothes but she doesn't have the money. Thankfully I do have the money. I go back and pick up all the things she put back and check out at the register. Once we get home Locklynn lays down on the couch to watch a movie and I sneak through the back door up to her room. I go into her closet and *attempt* to get it organized with all the things I bought for her

I come back downstairs after around 10 minutes to see Locklynn laying on the couch looking almost sick like. "Hey are you ok?" I ask confused by her expression. "Yeah I'm fi-" she says as she passes out. "LOCKLYNN? WHAT IS THIS? WHAT HEPPENED? WAKE UP!" I yell trying to get her to wake up. After a minute I pick her up to take her to her room but notice how light she is. I brush it off and decide to call a doctor and ask them about it. Once the doctor arrives I have her examine Locklynn to find the problem. "It appears she hasn't eaten a good meal in probably 2 weeks, she isn't getting the nutrients she needs." The doctor says making me worry immediately. "But she ate this morning I watched her!" I say to the doctor as she calmly replies, "did you make sure she kept it down?" She asks me. I look down at my feet, "I didn't know it was a problem. I haven't seen her in years." I say tears threatening to stream down my face. The doctor leaves and I see Locklynn open her eyes. "What do you mean you haven't seen me in years?" She asks obviously confused. "Wait you heard that?" I ask shocked and worried. "Yeah I did, you have some explaining to do." She says looking more serious then I've ever seen her look. "Locklynn...." I say "Do you remember your old friend Thomas?" I ask her as she is obviously shocked I knew who that was. "Yeah how could I not. His parents said he left to live with his aunt and that he wasn't coming back." She says a single tear starting to form in her eyes. "Locklynn, I'm Thomas. I changed my name and ran away so I could eventually see you again." I finally admit. Locklynn POV "D-Devin? Your Thomas?" I ask tears starting to roll down my face. "Yeah it's me." He says. Wasting no time I hug him tightly and he hugs me back. "But you have explaining to do too. Why where you so light?" He asks me. "Devin..... I can't keep food down very well anymore. It takes a lot of effort and I can only eat small portions now..." I say almost expecting him to yell at me. "I'm sorry..... Mark and my mom weren't giving me much food so my body rejects it now if I eat too much." I say tears rolling down even more now. Devin POV I stare at the physically weak girl in front of me and get even more mad. "This is why I didn't wanna leave her!" I mentally yell. "Hey listen to me," I say getting her attention "we will work this out. I couldn't be there as your best friend before but I will now. He can't hurt you anymore. Your safe now." I say as I feel my heart drop. I don't want to just be her childhood best friend anymore. "Stop thinking like this right now! She needs you stop focusing on yourself!" I think mentally slapping myself. "Hey, get some sleep. You look exhausted." I say to the half asleep girl laying on the bed in front of me. Locklynn POV "Hey Devin...?" I ask in a quiet tone. I don't want him to leave me here alone. "Yeah?" He replies. "Nothing good night." I say as he turns around and leaves. I glance over at Lilac who is staring at me and starts to whine. "Hey at least I almost tried!" I replied to the wolf who is now curling up into a ball. "I can't believe Devin and Thomas are the same person. I don't feel so bad for falling for him now. I couldn't do that to Thomas but he is Thomas so it doesn't matter now. I don't think? I'm so confused!" I think to myself. I feel myself slowly drifting to sleep. I yawn and glance over to the small wolf sleeping beside me. "Good night Lilac." I say finally drifting off to dreamland.
