Chapter 21: Sunflowers, daisies and ex-best friends?

I closed my locker for the last time as I heard some clear their throat from behind me. I turned around and was met with the very familiar sight of brown eyes. "Hey Dad, I thought you weren't going to pick me up," I said as I noticed the worry and anger in his eyes.

"Where were you yesterday?" He asked me as I realized that I hadn't fully recognized the consequences of my actions yesterday. "I was with Charles and Jacob Dad, please don't be mad at them." I told him as he shook his head at me. "I know, I'm sorry but I swear it was so frustrating after what happened in the weekend that I realized I needed a time-out," He pulled me into a hug as he told me that my parents had made up the excuse that I was sick yesterday.

"So you told the school that I was sick even though you guys had no idea where I was until the end of school?" I asked him as he nodded. "Evelyn, I- we thought that something happened and I know that Jacob and Charles are good boys but that doesn't mean that I automatically put my trust in them for you," I silently agreed with him as he spoke.

"Come on, we've got to get home to your worried mother," He said as we started making our way to the car.

"Haha, beat that Alisha," I said as I won another round of Just Dance. Our judges were my parents and the Martin siblings who were both ignoring me. It was safe to say that I was grounded but my painting nor reading rights were stripped away from me.

"You cheated," She said childishly as Kenzie looked at her with adoration filled eyes. 'Damn, why can't somebody look at me like that,' I thought to myself as the doorbell rang. "I'll get it," I told them as they all knew I was eager to open the door for my SPQR hoodie to be delivered.

I opened the door as I took in the sight in front of me. "Will?" I said as I realized that this was indeed my first best friend. "Hey E," We shared a hug as a car pulled up in the driveway. "What are you doing here?" We asked at the same time as I chuckled at his question.

"Um, I live here," I said as I heard the familiar voice of Charles Whitewood. "I'm here to meet some guy named Diego," He said as I realized that none of my friends knew who he was.

"Diego, um right then . . .. come on in," I told him as the others in the car descended; Nevaeh, Jace, Kaleb, Jacob and Charles. "Hey," I greeted them as they smiled at me and walked inside the house.

"Hi Fairy," I smiled at Charles as he started explaining to me that he wanted to go to the library today but then realized that we had agreed to go together. "Aww, that's sweet Le," I told him as he took off his shoes and walked inside the house.

I closed the door and locked it before following the others. "Hey man, thanks for coming I'm Diego Martin," I watched the scene play out as my current best friend and ex best friend met each other. "Nice to meet you, I'm Theodore William Lawrence." I chuckled as he said his full name.

"What? You think my name is funny, E?" I shook my head as I tried to hide my smile from him. "Oh, it's nothing Willy boy," I said as my parents and Alisha entered the living room. "Will?" My Mum smiled at the boy before pulling him into a hug.

"Hey Mrs. Prince it's nice to see you again," Will said as the others looked between us in confusion. "It's been like almost 10 years and yet here you are back home again," My Dad said as he shook Will's hand.

"I got you a little something," Will turned towards me as he handed me some sunflowers from his coat. "I'm surprised you remembered, Willy boy," I said as he scoffed playfully. "Oh yeah and how could I ever forget my Evie bug," My Dad looked at Will and then at me.
