"Cole! Help! HEEEEEELP!" Jay shrieked from the other room. Cole rushed down the hall. "Where are you, Jay?" "HEEEELP, fast!" Cole finally found the room and rushed inside. "What happened—"
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY, COLE!" cheered all seven of his friends. Cole's mouth was open in pure shock. "Thank you, thank you," he said, blushing. "Great acting, Jay."
Now it was Jay's turn to blush. "Nya told me to." He pointed at Nya, but she pushed his hand away. "No I didn't!" she said with a smirk. Cole laughed.
"But thanks, you guys. I was so frightened, but thank you." He continued to laugh. "So...are we gonna cut the cake now?" Rumi spoke up. "Let's do it," ordered Kai as Vania scooted Lloyd's wheelchair over.
"What flavor is it?" Cole asked. "You'll see when you cut it," Skylor insisted. "Just do it already!"
The knife slowly slid through the softness of the cake. "Happy birthday to you," Vania started. "Happy birthday to you." The rest of them joined in. "Happy birthday dear Co-ole, happy birthday to you."
Cole shrieked. "It's a chocolate cake!" "I catered it!" Vania yelled. "Or I ordered it."
"Tastes amazing, you guys should have some," Cole declared, his eyes wide in amazement. "If you say so," Lloyd agreed, reaching for a bowl. "Hey, hey, hey! Lloyd, relax. I'll serve you!" Cole offered. "Thanks, Cole."
They partied for a long time, until everyone was ready to go to sleep. Skylor and Jay left, so did Lloyd and Vania. But today Harumi was sleeping over at Lloyd and Vania's, and Kai was sleeping over at Skylor and Jay's.
"So, I guess, I gotta go home alone," Cole said. "You don't have to. I'll walk you there," Nya offered. Cole seemed satisfied and they set off in the dark, empty, cold and quiet streets.
"How was the party?" Nya spoke up. "Great, actually. Especially when Jay pretended to be in danger and you guys all yelled happy birthday and stuff," Cole answered.
"I know, right? I asked him to do it." Cole jerked his head. "You?" Nya nodded. There was silence for a moment, until Nya said, "You know, you're quite tough, Cole."
"What do you mean by that?" he asked. "I mean, you got through your mom's death, and the concern from Skylor and Jay's car crash, and then the latest incident." She replied.
"Yeah. I don't normally, like...cry or anything. Not even when my mom died." He shrugged and leaned on the nearby wall, making Nya pause in confusion.
Cole blushed. "And...I wouldn't normally do this..." he bent his head slightly and kissed Nya on the cheek, which caused her to gasp.
"Cole, what the heck?"
He hung his head and smiled. "Well...you know, I—I—well, I like Vania. I guess you knew that, right?" Nya nodded. Cole sighed. "And I also kind of liked you."
"Cole, but—how can you like two of us—I already like someone else." He shook his head. "No, it's like, I just like you. Like a friend kind of. I wasn't supposed to kiss you."
Nya started to understand. Cole continued, "And I like Vania so much that...that I want to...after we graduate from high school, I want to..." he blushed and sighed.
"Go on. I won't tell anyone." Nya insisted.
"I want to propose to her."
Nya gasped, loudly, and shrieked (but quiet enough so that the villagers wouldn't get alerted). "Oh my god, Cole! That's great, oh my gosh! When are you going to do it? In front of us?"
"I don't know yet," Cole blushed even harder. "I've never seen you blush so much, Cole." Nya remarked, which didn't do anything. Instead he diverted the topic. "Do you know if Vania likes me or not?"
They continued to walk. "There are some obvious signs, like she's blushing around you and stuff. Also, on the note she passed me in Ms. Yvette's class, it said she had a crush on you."
"So...is it a good idea to...you know, propose?" Cole whispered. "I think so. Well, actually, I love the idea of it!"
"Nya, do you like Jay?" Cole suddenly asked. Nya's eyes went wide, and she replied, "Yes. How did you know?"
"On that day last week, when the pole fell and all, you were hanging onto Jay, depending on him. And in the hospital, you were watching him nonstop." Cole explained.
Nya blushed. "Thanks for noticing. Oh, hey, your house's here. Want me to stay over?" Cole nodded. "Me and my dad could use some company. Especially after what I told you."
