"Cole, it's time for the graduation! Where are you?" Vania yelled, rushing up the stairs.

"Cole, are you—" she stopped short when she saw Cole at the bedroom mirror.

He was crying, and he looked a bit lost. He silently brushed his hair back into the usual hairstyle of his.

Vania immediately walked over. "Cole, is everything alright?"

"I guess so," he said shakily. "I—I just wish I had parents to come to my graduation and..."

"It's okay, Cole. We're all there for you. Now hurry up, the limousine is outside!" Vania urged.

Cole wiped his eyes and smiled. "Thanks so much, Vania."

-——-————

"So, you two are getting married soon, right?" Sasha asked.

"Yep. In a week," Cole answered her. The three of them were sitting in the back of the limo, on the way to the school with Skylor and the other graduates.

"Cool! Sorry I was mean to you and your friends, Cole." Sasha sighed, and laughed a little.

"No hard feelings. We'll invite you to the wedding for sure," Vania assured her.

"You will? That's great, thank you!"

———————————-

"Now, let's call up some very important people onto the stage. The few of the graduating students who have proven themselves this year." Said Principal Falle.

"Okay, first of all, can we have Cole Brookstone up here?"

Everyone clapped as Cole winked at Vania and climbed up the stairs to the stage.

"Okay! Cole, do you know why you're up here?"

"Nope!"

"Haha. Well, listen up. Cole is a really tough warrior who has faced all his internal (and external ) battles with bravery ."

"When he was 14 years old, he tragically lost his mother due to cancer." Ms. Falle paused for effect.

"And again, in the most recent tornado, his father was badly hurt and he passed away."

She let the people in the audience gasp for a few seconds. A few tears slid down Cole's cheeks.

"And we would like to award him with the Ninjago High School Gold Medal!!"

Cole gasped. The entire audience stood up, and the clapping was so loud his ears nearly fell off.

Ms. Falle was shorter than Cole—she had to reach up high to put the gold medal around his neck.

Vania, Sasha, Skylor, and the rest of his friends clapped for him. He felt so special, and couldn't hold back his tears nor stop smiling.

"Now we would like to thank you all, graduates, especially Cole, thank you! And please enjoy the rest of your life, live long and prosper!"

The audience clapped harder this time, and several people whistled and whooed and screamed at their success.

They all were growing up so fast, and Ms. Falle certainly emphasized it all in her speech.

But, thing is, the gold medal was something that would stay in Cole's mind forever.
