Once again, I froze. I instantly turned around and took a few steps towards him. "What? What did you say?" I asked seriously, thinking I heard him wrong. His expression was serious and a little hurt. "He was the guy who Samantha cheated on me with." He repeated with no tone. His eyes were getting red and he had a few tears about to fall. Even a blind person could tell he was trying hard to be calm. I forcefully smiled then said "Uh Elijah, are you sure it's him? Maybe he just looked similar to that guy." "Yes, I'm sure it was him. From the start he looked similar to him and they even have the same name. That can't be just a coincidence." Elijah said firmly.
"Wait Elijah just think about it again. You know how the stories go. The girl hugs or kisses her brother on the cheek or something as a sisterly love and her boyfriend misunderstands thinking that the girl cheated on him but the guy who she was hugging was actually her brother, right? And look the names Samantha and Samuel both have Sam as the start of their names! Maybe they were actually siblings and you just misunderstood!" I said trying to convince him. "No Eve, I didn't misunderstand. I'm sure that she cheated on me with Samuel! I saw it with my own two eyes, and my best friend was right there beside me too! He saw it too. They were kissing each other on the lips. And they aren't blood-related. They have different surnames and they aren't anything alike. Samuel have brown hair and green eyes while Samantha have blonde hair and brown eyes!" Elijah explained.
I was panicking now. I couldn't believe it. Samuel... The Samuel that treated me kindly was actually the guy who that Samantha cheated with? Samuel did that? I didn't know anymore. Then I thought of something. "Then when you met Samuel on the park why didn't you recognize him right away?" I asked him. "That's because he changed his hairstyle. It was a lot more different than what his hairstyle was six months ago." Elijah said. Seeing that I didn't fully believe him, he took out his phone from the pocket of his jeans and opened it. He showed me a picture of him, Samantha and finally Samuel sitting on a bench eating fries and smiling happily to the camera. Elijah was right. He did look exactly like Samuel. Only the hairstyle changed. The Samuel on the picture had wavy, brown hair and looked so happy while the Samuel now had straight, brown hair and just looked happy. It seemed that Samuel is the guy who Elijah hated and kept complaining to me about months ago.
"Listen Eve. I know it's hard to stay away from him when he was very nice to you but I just don't want you to get hurt. What if you get played by him? What if he was just pretending all along? I don't want you to also experience getting played." Elijah said in a soft voice. I know that Elijah is the one that's supposed to be comforted right now but right now it seems that I'm the one being comforted. He hugged me then said "Please Eve. I'm telling you this for your own good." I hugged him back then said "Okay. I'll avoid him for my own good." I stopped hugging him. "It's getting dark now. You should go back to your school." I said. "Oh right, but I haven't walked you back to-" Elijah said but I interrupted him saying "No need to walk me back to my dorm. The dorms are near anyway. You can head back to your school." "All right. Be safe, okay?" Elijah said worriedly. "Yeah, don't worry. I can see well in the dark." I said smiling. He smiled back a little, turned around and left.
After watching him slowly disappearing from my sight I also turned around and continued walking towards the dorm. I got to my dorm at 6:44 pm. I opened the door then went in. I opened the lights and closed the door behind me. I slumped down on the floor. I was just staring blankly on the floor and thinking. I was still processing what Elijah just said. I couldn't accept the fact that Samuel was actually like that. That Samuel actually kissed his own friend's girlfriend.
I sighed then put my hands on my face rubbing it. I stood up then changed my clothes. After that I checked my phone and saw the message that Samuel sent me earlier. I don't know how I should face him tomorrow. After hesitating I decided to chat him back. I realized I didn't reply back earlier. I thought of what I should say then after a minute I started typing.
