OMNISCIENT POV
WEDNESDAY. JANUARY 30, 2019.
——————————

As Janet and Dwayne walked towards the large building, hand in hand, he looked down at his side and over his wife's attire. She was wearing a strapless white dress that flowed, freely, covered with a white jean jacket. She clashed it with a pair of gold, wedged heels and let her black curls lay past her shoulders. Knitting his eyebrows, he stopped in his tracks, causing her to do the same.

"What wro—

"What made you want to wear that?" He asked.

She looked down at her outfit, then, back up at him."I thought it was cute,"

"You're my First Lady. You shouldn't be worried about looking 'cute' just to go to a church meeting. That's your problem," He said, shaking his head, looking down at her. Not saying anything, she just looked down at her heels, crossing one of her legs over the other. He his eyes, dropping her hand from his and began walking ahead of her. "Come on.."

Sighing, she began walking towards the door. As Dwayne unlocked the door, he looked back at Janet with an expression that she knew all too well. Shaking her head, he did a slow nod, unlocking the door with his key, stepping inside of the church.

Janet followed behind him and plastered a smile on her face. "Good morning, everyone," She beamed, closing the door behind her.

"Good morning, Pastor and First Lady. We were just about to open up," One of the Deacons said, getting up from his chair to shake Dwayne's hand and give Janet a quick hug. "How are you, this morning?"

"I'm doing great. How are you?"

"Pretty good. I can't complain," He said and Janet gave him a smile and nodded, moving over to the other elder Deacons, shaking their hands, firmly.

Moving over to Patrice, she stood up from her chair and smiled at Janet, reaching for a hug. "Hey, girl. How have you been? You're looking so pretty, this morning," She said, looking over Janet's outfit. Dwayne heard while he spoke with his Deacons and scoffed, playing it off with a cough.

"Thank you and I've been good. How about you? I see you went with the knotless braids style I told you to get. You're wearing it well, Trice," She said, stepping back, snapping her fingers.

Patrice smiled and ran her fingers through her long braids. "Well, thank you. You have always given the best tips. What's your next style?"

"I don't know, but I do know that I need something done, soon," She said, brushing her hair behind her shoulders as she sat her purse down. "What's on the agenda for today?"

"Well—

"Sister Patrice?" Dwayne called out for her.

She paused what she was saying and turned to the direction where her name was called. "Yes sir?"

"Can I speak with you, in my office, for a minute?" He asks.

The woman looked over at his wife. Janet shrugged her shoulders and turned back towards the table. "Sure," Patrice got up and followed him through a set of double doors.

As she slid past him, Dwayne stopped at the doorframe. "You guys can go ahead and get this meeting started. I'm pretty sure my wife can handle whatever needs to be done," He said, smiling at her.

She squinted her eyes, but smiled back. "I got it, babe,"

"My girl," He winked at her and closed the doubled doors behind him, following after Patrice.

Dropping her smile, she moved her curls from out of her face and placed her elbows onto the table, clasping her hands. "Alright, let's get started," She said, pulling out her laptop.
