JANET'S POV
SUNDAY. FEBRUARY 10, 2019.
——————————Pulling into the parks parking lot, I looked around and turned the car off while Zaya couldn't contain her excitement. She had been chanting and singing the whole way here. Grabbing my from the passenger seat, I got out of the car and opened her door. She sat up in her booster seat and removed her own seatbelt, wasting zero time climbing out.
"I'm gonna get on the swings, the monkey bars and the slide! Can you get on the slide with me Mommy J?! Pleaseeee?!" She asks, grabbing ahold of my hand.
"I'm not sure about the slide but we can get on the swings? Is that better?"
"Yesss! I can push you if you want.." She says and I laughed.
"I don't need you to hurt your little back, pumpkin. How about I just push you so you can go really high, like the last time?" I say and she looks up at me for a split second before she nodded her head. I hope I didn't hurt her feelings..
The both of us walked into the gate and I looked around, now having a view of everything. Besides the Ice-cream truck, there were multiple food trucks and various vendors out here as well. The air was smokey and filled with the scent of delicious food, reminding me of the 90's. Back when times were good and everybody loved everybody.
We walked along the rocky pathway before we stepped up onto the sidewalk. Seated on the benches were a few older women conversing with their jittery chihuahuas in their laps.
"Mommy J! Look over there!" Zaya yells and I looked down at her, glancing up at what she pointed to. Ahead of us was a circus clown handing out balloon animals to the small children that surrounded him. Now I was curious. What was actually going on tonight?
"Can I get one?! Please! Pleaseeee!" She begged and began pulling my arm. I did nothing but laugh, allowing her to pull me in her desired direction.
The closer we got, the more excited she got. "Who's next?" The clown asks as he passed over a blue dog. All of the kids surrounding him jumped up and down, reaching their tiny hands up.
I looked down at Zaya and she was bouncing in place. I knew she wanted so badly to join the rest so I gave her the okay, watching her bolt over to them. Her tiny body pushed through all the others, ending up in the front.
"What can I get for you, little one?"
"I want a red elephant!" She exclaims and I smiled.
"Coming right up.."
I watched him as he pulled the inflated ballon from behind his back, blowing into it. By his side was a smaller clown handing my baby a huge cotton candy cone. I was a little creeped out when it dawned to me that it was most likely a little person. I never judge, but something about a midget always made me uncomfortable.
When the taller one finished her elephant, I was impressed as she took it and ran straight over to me. "Look!" She said, holding it up.
"I see! Did you remember to thank him?" I ask and she giggles before running back over to him.
She was so hyper already. She stood in front of him and pulled at his pants leg, causing him to kneel down to her level. She gave him a big hug around his neck and he seemed to be very appreciative, hugging her back with a genuine smile. When they pulled back from one another, he grabbed something from out of his pocket and whatever it was had her jumping up and down before she hugged him again. I wasn't going to interfere, I want her to enjoy her childhood.
Rushing over to me, she held up a big gold coin. "I got a coin! He said I can use it to get on any jumping castle I want!"
"Oh wow, that's so nice of him! Let's go sit down so you can eat your candy.."
