JANET'S POV
WEDNESDAY. FEBRUARY 6, 2019.
——————————"Just give me another hint. Please.."
"No, Janet," Erica said, keeping her eyes on the road. I had been trying to get an answer out of them for the longest.
I folded my arms over my chest and leaned back in the seat, looking out of the window. My lunch break is only one hour and thirty minutes, so I know it wouldn't be anything major but I never know with them. I don't think that was even a factor, right now.
"Janet, just relax. You already know wouldn't put you in harms way, Zaya would tear our asses inside out," Ki says and I chuckle and look back at my baby. Shortly after we pulled off, she had fallen asleep.
"She's my sweet angel," I say, reaching back to rub her little knee. She had on this cute, red Minnie Mouse outfit. She looked so adorable. She makes me wish I had a daughter of my own. "I want her, this weekend," I say, suddenly, causing Erica to twist her neck at me.
"You just say it out the blue like you've been thinking about it.."
I laughed. "Please? It has been a while since she's spent the night with me," I leaned over the glovers compartment and rested my head on Erica's shoulder.
She put her hand on my face and rubbed it with her thumb. "She was supposed to go out of town with Mama Karen, but we will ask her when she gets up,"
"That ain't necessary. The minute we mention Janet, she's head over heels,"
"I'm happy about that, to be honest. Small children know good souls and I'm glad she's attached to the right one," Erica said and I put my forehead on her shoulder and blushed. They're always making me blush. I could feel her chuckle as she kissed my head.
"What have you been up to? You haven't texted or called either of us since Sunday," She says.
I sighed. "Yeah, I apologize for that. I've just been so caught up with Dwayne's frequent doctor's visits and burying myself in work, I forgot.."
"That doesn't matter, you're here with us now but Mama, you really need to branch out more," Said Ki and Erica hummed.
"I know, I know. I just don't know where to start,"
Erica took one hand off the stirring wheel and raised it. "I have a few suggestions. Number one, you can start by putting your foot down and stop letting that nigga control you,"
I raised my head from her shoulder. "I don't let him control me.." Do I?
"You do. You are invited to so many things but don't go, all because your husband is insecure. You're grown and are allowed to act as such. I bet you're not all down his neck when he handling is business. That nigga ain't got a job.." Erica said, scrunching her face.
"What's the worst that could possibly happen, Jan?" I hear Kierra ask and I began to pull at my ear.
"I could name a few things.." I mumbled and good thing neither end them hear me. That would've been an intense conversation. "I get what you guys are saying, but it isn't as bad as y'all may think,"
From behind me, I could feel Kierra's eyes. "I literally caught him choking you against the wall,"
"Yeah, b—
"I still remember the very first time he ever hit you," She added on.
"And that was right in front of us so don't try and defend him and justify his abuse. Fuck him. He's the devil and I honestly don't get why you're still dealing with him.." Erica said as she began to go on and on.
