Mettaton laughed a metallic laugh that rattled the shelves on Alphys' walls. Jake's hand trembled on the trigger of his revolver. Almost reluctantly, he chose to fight and pointed his gun at Mettaton. Then, he saw the look on Alphys' face and hesistated.

Suddenly, his soul flashed a bright yellow and a burst of electricity hit him. He collapsed on the ground as his luminous golden soul flew up into the air. Mettaton laughed again. Alphys quietly stepped over to him and put her hand on his back.

"H-hey, Met-Mettaton?" Alphys asked.

"What, darling? I'm about to collect the human's sou-" Mettaton turned around to look at her but then his eyes went dark.

Alphys had turned off his switch. She hated to abuse his robot features, but she couldn't let anyone know about this yet. Asgore...Gerson...they'd recruit him into the Royal Guard. And then what?

His dreams of becoming a star would be shattered.

She put Jake's ever glowing soul into a tall glass container, as she set to work, removing Mettaton's memory disk from his head. She looked at it and grimaced, opening her drawer and putting it in, locking it tightly. She considered smashing it for a moment, but quickly decided against it.

She left Mettaton slumped over on the floor as she took Jake's soul and her heavy heart to meet with Asgore.
