Axel just stood there, annoyed at my mocking comebacks to him. In my opinion, he totally deserved it, seeing as he made me blush way too many times, nearly killed me, and almost left me. After a while he snapped, raising his fist at me.
"Alright, Alright! I get it!"
I smiled, and observed the location of them again. After a minute, I nodded in agreement, then grabbed Axel's hand, suddenly running off in a burst of energy. He gasped in surprise.
"H-hey! Where are you going?!"
I continued to tug on Axel's hand for a long time until we finally made it to the edge of the city. Lucky for us, no guards in the city were patrolling at this time, so it was a relatively easy way through. As I stood at the edge of the city, my eyes were in awe as I noticed all the beautiful, always bright lights and gorgeous nighttime. Chatter was heard all about, with loud music blasting throughout the city. The smells of freshly cooked, steaming ramen and cheesy, bursting pizza was enough to make anyone's jaw drop. There seemed to be a parade going on at the time, with drums beating and foreign singing. I continued to watch in amazement, being distracted from our mission. Axel waved his hand in front of me, and it took me longer than usual to snap back into action. Once I did, I nervously laughed, rubbing my head.
"Sorry..." I said, "It's just so easy to be distracted here."
Axel gave a long, hard sigh and nodded.
"I don't blame you. This is probably the biggest city in the world."
I smiled, reassured that he understood what I meant. Suddenly, loud guitars suddenly played in the distance, with a piano melody being heard. Axel and I perked up in surprise. I had no idea what was going on, but I was definitely gonna find out. I grabbed on to Axel's hand again, picking up speed. I rushed through the looming crowd and made it to the area where everyone was watching. I managed to slip in next to a small kid, who I assumed was only 11 or 12. He wore a red hat, displaying a blue man with a blaster for one of his arms. Next to the character was small text, reading the words "Mega Man." I had little to none idea who the character was, but they looked cool enough. Once I looked at the kid, he stared dead center at my eyes. I gulped, realizing that my right eye wasn't covered by a leaf. I frantically searched my pockets, finally obtaining the leaf. I put it over my eye in a hurried manner, and I turned to Axel, who was wearing the leaf ever since we got to the crowd. I muttered out a swear word. How could he be so cool? As I looked back at the kid, I desperately tried to persuade him.
"Oh, uh, you see..." I trailed off, "it was just the way the light was shining?"
The kid just stared dead center at me. I tried to move, but froze in panic. We continued staring for about 1 more minute, when the kid suddenly pouted, beginning to smirk.
"Heh. Who..." He paused. "asked."
I immediately stepped back in shock. Did that little child just insult me? He completely made a fool out of me just now. His use of slang was pathetic. I wasn't gonna stand for his stupid behavior, however. I inched closer to him, now staring at him in a competitive manner. I put two of my fingers on his head and released them, softly bruising his forehead. I started speaking smugly.
"And what do we have here? A kid with 0 brain cells and so dumb that he can't take off his stupid hat, because his ugly, spiky hair would stick up."
He had a moment of surprise, but chuckled to himself, inching closer. He pointed at my chest.
"You think you're so cool? The only thing you have is a leaf over your eye, street rat."
My face began boiling, but I thought of a somewhat witty response. I inched even closer to him this time.
"Well, at least I'm not a couch potato for a living." I said.
The kid inched even closer, our breath practically leaning in.
He opened his mouth completely out of nowhere in a flurry rush fast motion.
"What's under there? Your ugly little pretty princess face, spoiled brat?"
I froze where I stood, having no comebacks left. He got me pretty good. It took me a bit, but I managed to think of one. Right as I was about to reply, a random guy who looked in his 30's walked over on front of us.
"So, you gonna kiss, or..."
His statement caught both of us by completely suprise. The ugly teen stood there, then sticking his tongue out and spitting at me, showing his disgust. In my own reaction, I made a pretend hurling noise to express my own disgust. After we let our emotions out, we glared at the guy simultaneously. Once he noticed that wasn't our intention, he raised his hands up in a peace motion, apologizing.
"Oh, uh, crap, um..." he stuttered. "What was I thinking? You guys are cleary siblings."
Me and the boy completely froze. We didn't say a word, but eventually found the courage to look at each other. We stared in a way as a sort of mutual agreement. We didn't speak, didn't move, nothing. The man questioned us.
"You're siblings, right?"
We then stared at the man almost like puppets, completely without facial expression. Right as we got ready to charge the man violently, we were cut off by a loud announcement.
"Attention! Please quiet down so you can listen to the amazing, glorious, sparkling and dazzling..." He paused, setting the mood.
"Mrs. Danny Sparkles!"
The crowd roared in excitement, tossing drinks and some even money at the parade boat, which burglars enjoyed, scooping every last penny up. Even those who hadn't found tickets managed to get a decent enough spot to dance to the beat. Her radiating hair glistened in the light, it's purple and violet eminence radiating throughout the streets. She wore headphones on her left ear, and was equipped with a beautiful blue dress, enough to make the most disgusted fans gawk. Though hard to make out, I could spot a hoodie being worn under all this. Her pants were simple, just casual athletic, but the audience didn't even care of this fact. A few I spotted had rather strange pillows of her. I didn't know what they had done to the pillow, but I really, really didn't want to know. A smiling and adorable expression went across her face, as she waved to all her fans. While not much attention was being paid to the girl next to her, I could see someone with a guitar, piano, and drums. I was baffled at the fact that she could play so much, but was eager to see how she did. She had blue hair, and didn't wear nice clothes, with a casual hoodie being worn and shorts covering her legs, but it was clear this was understandable, seeing as she wasn't the star of the show. The kid who I had just fought with had completely zoned out, drooling over Danny's beauty. I rolled my eyes. I walked back over to Axel, who drank from a coke bottle. I was completely in shock that he grabbed more so fast, but didn't dare question it. The crowd was silenced, and Danny went to the mic. She pressed her fingers against it, slowly trembling. It was obvious that when it came to performing, she was rather timid. After a while, she spoke.
"Hey everyone! Are you all, um-" she stuttered. "R-ready for the awesome show tonight?"
Ignoring her mistakes, the crowd roared once again, but was just as quickly quieted. As she tried to speak once again, the blue haired girl walked over to her, and placed a hand on Danny's shoulder. She gave a calm smile, letting Danny know that she would take it from here. Danny nodded, and moved away. In a new change of tone, the blue haired girl radically grabbed the microphone, nearly unplugging it. She played a loud, monstrous guitar riff and smirked wildly.
"Alright! Let's get ready for the most kick butt, action packed performance you've ever seen, and, let me tell ya, this is gonna blow your minds!"
The audience resumed again, and Danny went back to the blue haired girl, nervously smiling. She whispered.
"Yeah, I'll take it from here."
The blue haired girl pouted, crossing her arms and walking away.
As Danny took the stage, she breathed in, then out, and finally back in again. The crowd was completely silent, on the edge of their seats for her beautiful voice. The blue haired girl readied her dozen or so instruments, placing her fingers on each and every single one. Axel and I actually grew quite attached, just like the audience. After a moment, she began singing. Immediately, it was so angelic that I let all other sounds mute and focus all my attention on her voice. The crowd screamed in enjoyment immediately after, admiring the sounds. Her voice echoed all across the city. It was an indescribable beauty, followed up by the amazing instrument playing.
(Since this is a book, I have a link to the song she'd sing)
