.I looked down at the city streets as I stood atop a pile of rubble, and the only scent I could smell was smoke. The neon city that had once been bright and glamorous was now turned into a warzone, and the only thing able to be seen were large fires and destroyed buildings and cars. I could hear the sounds of people screaming, and a scientific maniac laughing as his sounds echoed across the city. That maniac, Venom. The same maniac who pledged himself to be one of us, a Multi-Color, a rare type of hybrid eye society shied away from, and cursed those who had it. He betrayed our trust; right as we were about to enter the city and no longer tremble in the face of normal people, that monster killed my friends, at least this was what I believed. I had chased him down, but he managed to knock me out in time for him to destroy the city. I clenched my fists, the look on my face growing solemn. My right eye lit up blue, as a burst of energy echoed through me, as I charged toward the city faster than light. I swiftly avoided the people coming around me, and jumped over the cars that hurled towards me. Buildings began to crash down, as the windows on them cracked, and fell to the ground. The glass was clear and hard to see. It scratched my arms, as blood rushed from them. I couldn’t worry about that right now, though. I had one mission; save the city. I continued running, but stopped when Venom looked at me. He glared, then smirked.
“Heh, looks like you're stronger than all your friends. I was hoping you’d be.”
I looked at him with a pained look in my eyes. The twisted smile on his face grew larger once he noticed.
“Please,” I choked out. “You have to stop this! You can quit right now, you can save the city if you just let me help–”
“Shut up.”
He glared at me.
“I don’t want anybody’s help; my whole life, everybody’s looked down on me, abused me, treated me like a freak, and you think you can just waltz into my life? Well, I’ve got news for you. You’re not the perfect little girl you think you are. You’ve never been, and you never will be. But what the heck, you probably already knew that with the way societies treated you, huh?”
I froze where I stood as I thought back to everything he said. The worst part about it was that everything he said was true. But, that didn’t mean it would stay that way forever. I opened my mouth as I darted my eyes downward.
“You’re right.” I said, with a rising expression.
“Society has treated us horrible, and I understand what you’re going through, and I’m not even sure if I can forgive them, but that doesn’t mean we destroy all they hold dear!”He suddenly widened his eyes as he moved his face closer.
“But look at what I’m doing! I’m going to rewrite society, make it perfect, just imagine it, a perfect world where only Multi-Colors rule! A world where only the strong survive!”
I looked at him again; the twisted smile had gone away, and I could now see a man who had lost everything, a man who had no reason to live anymore but to fill out his twisted dream. I wanted to help him, heal him, but if he wouldn’t let me, then I had to do something I had never wanted to do from the beginning; fight him.
“I’m sorry, but I can’t, I won’t, help you fill out this twisted world of yours.” I said confidently. His expression grew grim as he closed his eyes and sighed.
“If you’re not with me, you’re against me. Are you willing to take the risk, the inevitability, that I will slay you in an instant, and crush what you believe in?”
