Unrequited

I return to the place where we first met

The corridor empty now that you've left

Your face still etched in my mind

Yet not a sign that you once stood here.

These days I walk the streets

Flitting like a ghost through a crowd

Hoping I'd run into you someplace, someday,

I never do,

never will.

In alleyways and fire escapes

From aeroplanes to the bullet trains

On the other side of the world

I'll never see your face again.

It's all for the best, I suppose

I wouldn't know what to say if given the chance

Nothing could be achieved from all the words in the world

So what would be the point?

You've made your choice.

It's about time I made mine.
