The Fallen

Soldiers running through desolate land,
Their bayonets and rifles in hand,
Prepared for a fatal death
No one deserves to have.

Quickly they run and run
Past the foul dug outs,
Past the barbed wires,
To the horrors which lay in front.

Loud shells whizzing past,
Bullets flying through the air,
They wish it would no longer last,
As they past through land so bare.

Their hearts pumping and thumping
As they fight for glory,
They continue on running,
Filled with regret and sorry.

A sea of green comes into view,
Slowly, painfully killing a few,
Surrounded by a land of death,
As the soldiers take their last breath.
