The Prince Choose the Knight (BL)

CHAPTER 2

Elfini Castle, West

"Yarran!"

He was just returning home after half a year of expedition within the West and South borders. It's quite a long time since he was away but in no way will he forget whom that voice belong to.

He turned his head from where the call is coming and saw the most important person in his life. His savior, Princess Cadia.

The woman was running to welcome him with a bright smile on her face. She was only able to reach his chest in height and it always warms him inside how she seems to look like a little sister welcoming his big brother whenever he came home after expeditions.

Just like they were family.

She has the most delicate features of a lady that he had ever seen in the entire Kingdom of Elfini. From that long soft curls and doll eyes that are always brightly looking at him. Her pale complexion that seems to make her glow under the sunlight due to her poor health condition up to every little delicate movement she does. Just everything about her seems fragile and immediately activate his instinct to protect her against any harm.

He didn't wait for her to reach him and made his walk to her letting himself be enveloped on those waiting arms like a dog finally returning to it's owner.

They have a master and servant relationship on the outside but he can feel that both of them treated each other way more deeper. May be the familial love they both lack.

He practically saw her grew up and sees her as a little sister he never had. She was only nine when she picked him. He was older by five years.

He's even more close to the princess compare to her two real brothers as both of them are busy with their own lives fighting for the crown. For them, associating with the princess is of no use and benefit as women are only beneficial for marriage discussions. Clearly, as the princess has a weak body, she is considered of no value to be a bargain and married off to make allies with other kingdoms.

Maybe that's the only bright side about the princess's condition. At the very least, he wants her to to find love the normal way as responsibility of a royal would be too hard for her to fulfill.

"I missed you Yarran! I'm so happy that you are back!" said the princess and hugged him tightly. "A lot of things happen while you were gone. I'm so scared and I don't know what to do." then suddenly she began to cry.

His whole being tensed and gave a questioning look to Mikel. The substitute knight following her assigned while he was gone.

"It seems the new King issued an order for the princess." He said with visible worry on his face.

He broke free from the hug and faced her. "What happened? What did your brother order you to do?"

Two years ago, the queen had died due to her terminal illness and the King followed just a year later. It now makes her older brother Johann as the first born the new King. He was inaugurated six months ago while he was still completing his knighthood and was not able to see the occasion.

He never really like the man and the way he looked at him always irked him.

"My brother did nothing wrong, I know that I am bound to do it eventually for the royal family specially now that we have both threats coming from the North and South Kingdoms. But I'm still scared." she said while crying and hugged him again.

He had a hunch of what the order maybe but he wants to be sure. "What is the order princess?"

With teary eyes she looked at him. "He wants me to marry the only Prince of the Rothilla Kingdom."
