As soon as Julie finished singing, Alex reached out towards her. Just as he was about to try to comfort her, we were poofed outside.
"Dude, why'd you do that?" Alex asked, "Julie needs a hug."
"Bro," Luke starterd, "a ghost hug isn't the feel-good moment you think it is. Julie just needs some privacy right now, okay?"
"You know what? I think you poofed us out," Reggie concluded.
"Because you can't handle when people cry," I finished. I've been friends with Luke since we were seven, I know how he is.
"Yeah, I should know. I cried in a room for 25 years, and I didn't get a single hug from either of you," Alex said, very much like a drama queen.
"All right. Bring it in," Reggie offered while standing up.
"Don't touch me!" Alex shrieked.
"This is why no one hugs you."
"I would have hugged you," I told him, and he replied with a smile.
"Okay," Luke says as he tries to change the subject, "I think the first thing we should do, once we get the courage to go in there, is ask Julie why she lied about playing the piano."
"Yeah, you know, maybe tell her how amazing she is," Reggie agreed, standing next to me.
"Yeah, course, bro," Luke replied.
"She's legit. I got ghost bumps," Alex commented. I gave him a questioning look and just laughed him off.
It was quiet until faint, soft sobs erupted from a girl near a window.
"Oh my gosh. Was she crying too?" Alex asked worriedly, but evidently stating the obivous.
"Duh," I replied.
"And the only thing scarier than one girl crying is two girls crying," Luke commented, worriedly.
"Excuse me?"
"He's right. Guys, we definitely can't go in there," Reggie replied.
"But we can listen," Luke suggested.
"Wait, I don't think-" The boys cut me off as they rushed to window, ready to eavesdrop. I sighed before I joined them.
The girl went inside the garage and confronted Julie.
"Carlos told me you'd be out here," she said. "We need to talk."
"Are you okay?" Julie asks.
"No, I'm not okay!" The girl exclaimed. "You just got kicked out of music! I've been up all night thinking about what I was gonna say. Might've drank seven sodas, but... I need to get this out.
"Wait. I have something to tell you-" Julie was cut off.
"No, it's my turn to talk. You can't give up music. Your music's like a gift, that would be a tragedy. So, you're basically, like, canceling Christmas, and I love Christmas!" The girl continued.
"Flynn, I-"
"Uh-uh! When we were six, we promised to be in a band together. Double Trouble."
"I never agreed to that name."
Flynn sighs, "That's not the point. Jules, if you leave the music program, we'll be apart forever. That's just what happens. Sure we'll see each other in the hall sometime, but...we'll have different lives, make new friends." Flynn started getting choked up, as did I. I know what it's like to lose your best friends. Even though this situation was different than mine, I could still relate. Reggie noticed my moist eyes and nudged my shoulder.
