A sequel? How is that fucking possible? I'm not even writing anything?
"Aaliyah, What's wrong?"
"Oh no, I'm totally fine. Everything is great. Nothing wrong over here!"
"If you say so." He gives me a suspicious look but to my luck he drops it quick "so, that was the tour, was it?"
I put my phone to my back pocket while biting my bottom lip "Yea, we were about to wrap it up." Before anyone can say another word my phone starts buzzing again, so I apologise and look at the notification.
Scarlett: Aaliyah! You'll never guess what's going to be on TV
Me: What?
Scarlett: A big announcement about 'On The Market' I thought you might be interested
Me: I'll be right there. Meet me at my house
Could it be more about the sequel or something new? I have to find it out. " Taehyung I'm sorry but I've got to get home. There's a situation I have to deal with."
He nods while pursing his lips "Okay but I might want too continue later today."
Is he talking about work or something else? Let's play a little hard to get "Hmm, I don't know. I may have plans but why don't you text me later?"
"There's one thing you should know about me Aaliyah. I love to chase." He gives me a look which wants me to cream right and there and it sends a chill up my spine. God, I hope he is not just talking about work.
As soon as I get through the door, I rush to the TV, I flip through the channels, trying to find the broadcast. What channel is it on?! It's supposed to be starting.
Minutes later, I hear the door open and then slam shut. Scarlett runs into the living room and grabs the remote from my hand. She presses a few buttons and I see a banner with the book title "Thank god you came! I've been looking for-" she shushes me fast "Shh!! It's starting!" We both look toward the TV and I see a strangely familiar woman come into view. Wait a second.....Where have I seen her before?cmon, cmon she.....Oh my god!
That's Peach! The woman who approached Taehyung at lunch! What does she have to do with anything?
She starts speaking with a big smile "as I'm sure you've all heard 'on the market' is one of the biggest literary successes of the decade. You might criticise it's sexual content but there's no denying it's place in culture. It's liberating for women everywhere and my role here is to open the literary world to more works like this. Works by women, published by women, for women and id like to start with the author of 'On The Market' if you're listening, contact me! Excited, Scarlett turns to me "well, what do you say to that?"
"Wow...." I pause and think for a moment "the book is really making a big hit. Who knew a book like that would get so much attention?" Especially one that I wrote "it's totally unexpected."
"And we can all agree to the fact that it is liberating."
Who knew I was such a talent?
"Women aren't allowed to talk about enjoying sex, much less have their own sexual needs."
"True and that women, Peach. What do you think of her?"
She makes a kinda bitter face "oh, she was my old boss at that one shop."
"Really? I wonder how she knows Kim Taehyung?"
"Huh?"
"Oh I was out with a client the other day and Peach approached us. She seemed happy to see him."
Her eyes glister "is he hot? Maybe she's into him. I know she always had a thing for her hot male assistants. Hypocritical to say the least..."
"But that still doesn't explain how she knows him." Are they somehow connected through work?
Scarlett seems too distracted not even thinking with me "anyway, this is big news. I have to get back to the store. There's a long list of people who were asking me about the sequel." She gives me one last smile then heads for the door.
This whole thing is getting bigger than I ever thought possible and I'm more lost than ever.
