I wake up to a steady melody in my ears. I roll over and turn off my alarm. 7:17 am. I tiredly groan as I stretch and sit up on the edge of my bed. Today's the big day. The day we figure out why the heck we're here. I don't get long to think though because Peter comes bursting into my room.
"GAH!" I shout as I nearly fall off my bed. "Don't do that! Didn't Aunt May teach you to knock?!"
"Well... yeah but I don't care," Peter replies with a childish grin on his face. I sigh.
"Alright, what do you want?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well, you came rushing in here." I gesture to my door. "Clearly you want something."
"Oh right." My twin awkwardly scratches his neck. I just laugh and shake my head. "Well Happy said that Tony will be here to pick us up at noon to do... whatever it is that we have to do." I nod.
"Alrighty. Want to hang out a bit before then?"
"Absolutely! There are still some things I want to see. And you probably want to nerd out about buildings again." He joked while smirking. Rolling my eyes, I respond snarkily,
"At least I'm not filming everything like some off-brand Youtube influencer." He gasps.
"How could you! I'll have you know that I am an excellent videographer." Peter pulls a "me" and feigns being offended.
"Yeah sure. Keep telling yourself that, kiddo." I stand up from my bed and walk over to pick out my clothes.
"We're the same age!" My twin shouts.
"Nu-uh. I'm 4 minutes older." Peter then makes a face of frustration that I can't help but laugh at. "Now get out so I can get changed," I say while shooing him out the door. He groans but leaves at my request.
I walk out the door into the kitchen and grab a granola bar for breakfast. Not the best thing to have before a possible fight but y'know, I'm a teenager, I don't exactly do the whole "self-preservation" thing. I grab my suit and web-shooters and sit in the living room space to look it over.
'Why are we here?'
'What does Mr. Stark need?'
'Are we going to have to fight Captain America?'
'Who exactly is the Winter Soldier?'
It feels like all of my questions are being thrown at me all at once. I've been wondering what Tony wants us, literal kids, to do to help in Berlin ever since we met him but now the curiosity is tenfold. I'm shaken out of my thoughts by a knock at the door. I quickly put my suit under a blanket and go open the door.
"You ready, Essie?" It's my brother.
"Yep! Let me just grab my phone and we can head out." I rush to grab my things and shove on my shoes. Then I grab Peter's hand and we walk out the door.
Today is much like yesterday. Beautiful skies and my brother by my side. We wander around for a while without a plan. Just enjoying the scenery and each other's company. I found the Berlin Cathedral the most interesting and was excited but then Peter had to ruin the mood by saying it was just a building! He filmed everything of course. I took a turn as well. Then we argued over who was the better vlogger and he had the AUDACITY to say he was better than me! 11:30 came much too soon.
We walked back into our connected living space to see Happy waiting there for us.
"Go get your suits on and grab your things. Tony will be here in 30." Then he walks out of the room.
