"Anishaaaa!" I heard my Best Friend shout and I was already considering cutting the call.
"Why are you shouting?" I asked bringing the phone back to my ears because I had moved it away from my ears.
"We were going to hang out today!" She yelled again. She was upset that I had forgotten our plans.
"I remember." I lied. I had overslept. So I nearly forgot.
"Oh of course you remember. You just woke up. I know." She figured it out because she was the unnecessarily smart one.
"Kiara, see... We were having a family brunch... So..." I tried explaining to her.
"No excuses allowed. You have one hour. I want you to be there at the Plaza Mall." She ordered.
"Okay, mam!" I agreed with a sigh. And a small smile.
"Bye!" She rudely said and hung up before I could reply.
Do you need such best friends in life who don't listen to you?
Yes. Because they make your boring life interesting.
I chuckled to myself and returned to the living room where everyone was discussing something very seriously and stopped when they saw me.
"What were you all discussing?" I asked her and also remembered she was telling me something before I left.
"But you have only five minutes to tell me because I am going out with Kiara and she has given me only one hour to be there," I informed her.
"Okay listen. This is important." She said getting serious and I gave a confused glance to everyone at the table.
"Hmm.." I asked while eating my food. One, because I didn't have time. And two, I was hungry.
"Mohana Aunty came yesterday... do you know her?" She asked me.
"Yeah... your friend, right? Maybe once or twice at a function." I replied.
"She's a matchmaker." She informed me.
"So?" I asked frowning.
What should I do?
"She brought a good proposal for you yesterday." Mom said and I choked on my food immediately.
Isha di handed me the water and I looked at her helplessly while she shrugged her shoulders with a nod. That means she knows about it.
"Are you okay?" Mom asked in a concerned voice.
"Mumma... you know I don't want to get married-" I was saying but she interrupted me.
"One day you have to get married, Anisha." She said as a matter of fact. I understood the expression on her face. She was a mother and wanted her daughter to marry.
