Chapter Eight: Stop Pushing Me

They weren't lying. We did end up having a game today, just like they had warned us yesterday in one of the clues. Clara was the first one up from our cabin, and Chase was the first one up from his.

The uniforms were the same from the last game, I wondered if they changed depending on what you're completing. There was nothing outside when we first woke up, but like we expected, there was after breakfast. Eleven walls.

In between the walls were spaces slightly smaller than the width of the tunnels of fear. There were ten black pieces of cloth for all of us. And the paper that explains what we were to do read, "Each of you will stand in front of one path. The goal today is to get through this obstacle filled race, blindfolded. There will be walls popping out and curbs popping up, You must avoid all of it, without seeing any of it. If you get hit or trip, you will be pushed back to the start. The first person out gets pass to sit out at next week's game." I've got to win this, I don't want to play next week's. This week's bad enough. We can't see but we have to do dodge these things??

We all chose a path and put our blindfolds on, I was once again closest to the girl's cabin, Lizzie to the one right of me. Karina was standing in the middle so she counted us off, "Three.. Two... One... Go!" And we moved quickly into the new tunnels of fear. Anything can just pop out and hit me or trip me. Exactly why I hate the dark, you can't see what's coming.

I was walking as fast as I could, I want to get out of here first. It seemed like nothing was there, and then suddenly Wham! I was pushed into the left wall. Dammit. Then I felt this invisible force push me back and I stood where I assumed was the beginning.

So I started again, wondering if anyone else was pushed back, probably Jane. There is a very high chance she would trip even without a blindfold.

I kept walking, I felt like I walked further than before. Then I kicked something and fell right on my face, ouch. These games are going to be the death of me. Wait.. I really hope not.

Then I started again. Third times a charm. I rubbed my face, hoping the pain would go away. I fell really hard and wasn't able to catch myself. I kicked another curb but luckily caught myself and steadied my two feet but as I was doing that, the wall suddenly hit me and I fell into the other side. Again.

Third time is definitely not a charm. Here goes my fourth time, I wonder if I've made it even half way. I just started walking once more waiting to get hit or tripped.

You know when you're eyes are closed and you're trying to go to sleep but your brain kind of shows you random memories or just things? Yeah, that had happened to me. I was walking through and saw a glimpse of a charm bracelet. Five different charms on it. And then someone smiling... it looked like Evan. But it was sort of distorted and quick. But I couldn't think of it and see it again. I wanted to know what made me think of a bracelet and Evan...

I was back at the beginning. I must've been hit and blacked out for a second. Most of the others are probably out, there's no way I can win now. Wait, a way. There's got to be some sort of trick and way to get out of here. Maybe you can hear the walls being pushed out? But I haven't heard anything.

   Maybe a pattern.

Okay so I've been hit, then tripped, then hit. No wait, I was about to be tripped but I caught myself. So hit, trip, trip, hit, hit. And each time I was hit, it was coming from a different side, and the curbs were two. So there was a pattern... I hoped. I had to stay to the left wall, then to the right and back and forth. But how did I know when the first wall was pushed out and when to switch sides?

I stood there long enough and started to walk. I was staying very close to the wall, praying that I got the pattern right. And then I heard something hit the right wall, directly behind me. So the walls are pushed as far as they need too until they hit something. So I would be able to hear them. But how would I know when I've past the curbs?

I went down on my knees and decided that I'll just stay on the ground the whole time and stay close to the right wall. But i've got to move very quickly. I'll feel the curbs with my hands and climb over them, and i'll hear the wall slam into the other one and know I passed them.

I somehow got the pattern right and never was stopped or pushed back.

I kept crawling through and was surprised at the change of texture of the ground. I was now on all fours on grass. If anyone else was around I probably looked like such an idiot. I took the blindfold off and was relieved to see the signature woods that's across from the mess hall. I stood and noticed no one else around. Had I really been the first out?

I was really excited to not play next week's game, but was now worried how long it would take the others to get out. I had been in there for two hours. Which shocked me, how the time passed here in the woods.

One by one, I hugged everyone who came out of their tunnel and took off their blindfold. Though, no one else came out crawling which made me think I was extra stupid looking. The last one out was Evan and he has been in there for five hours.

This game was full of injuries. Nothing too serious but we all just hit our beds and stayed there for the rest of the day with bags of ice.
