Chapter Nine: Girls Night

It's been a couple weeks since the last game when I won. Everyone has been normal and as happy as they could be stuck in the woods for a year.

But today, we all sat eating breakfast, and I noticed Jane. She sat across from me and didn't smile once today. She looked sad about a month ago, but it seemed like it had past. I guess not.

After breakfast, I offered Jane and I to take the plates and things. That probably would make her more upset, but I needed alone time with her. We three away the paper plates full of syrup and I decided to ask, "Jane, what's wrong? And don't say nothing, you haven't smiled once this morning." She sighed, "It's just this whole 'year in the woods' thing, i'm not going to see any of my family, or Pi-" Dexter walked in, cutting her off. I had a feeling of what, or should I say whom, she was about to say.

I glared at Dexter behind his back as he got a bottle of water from the fridge. I turned back to Jane and saw that she had turned away from me and to the kitchen sink. I whispered, "Girls night, eight o'clock." I saw her first smile today and walked back to tell the rest of our friends.

The rest of the day was a chill hang out listen to music day. We told the guys and that we'd be going to bed early. It was eight o'clock and all five of us girls gathered a bunch of snacks and drinks for our night.

We all sat down on our separate beds, except Clara and I were both sitting on my bed sharing a bowl of popcorn.

After we all got settled, I shoved another handful of popcorn in my mouth and wiped my hand on my leg, "Now, Jane," I started before Clara cut me off. I rolled my eyes but she jumped up and ran out the cabin. "Where the hell is she going? We took the whole pantry," I spoke to the other girls. Lizzie shrugged and said, "Maybe music." As if on cue Clara ran back in with a cd and the cd played, "We can't forget about music!" She told us there there was a cd just for this occasion, so she started the cd and turned it down just so it was in the background.

"Now, Jane, " I started once again, "I don't know if i'm the only one, but i've noticed your sad looks lately and I want to know what's wrong. I don't remember the last time you were upset when the rest of us weren't. So, spill." Jane sighed while looking down, "I guess it's this whole thing. We have to spend an entire year in this random forest camp thing with five random boys and for all I know, they seem so familiar I might know them from years ago I don't know...

But I think the big thing is Pierce." "Pierce?" Karina asked. "The guys you've had a crush on for years?" Lizzie crunched on a chip. "Yes! I don't know but he's all that's been on my head. What is he doing back home? My theory is that he's probably with some girl and doesn't even realize I'm not there. You know, does everyone just think we disappeared? Cause I don't remember signing up for this at all." Jane ranted.

"You're right, I have no memory of volunteering to stay here. Or just knowing it before we got here," Clara frowned. I realized I didn't either. None of us know how we got here or even why and it's starting to creep my out...

"Speaking of crushes," Karina opened a sprite, "how are you and your boyfriend Ace?" "What boyfriend?" I furrowed my eyes at her. Lizzie laughed, "You've got to be kidding. How blind can one be?" "Excuse me? Am I missing something about my love life? I'm so confused right now..." I trailed off and realized who they were talking about. "You all are so annoying. He's not my boyfriend and I just me him a few weeks ago!" "Mhm, we'll you two have gotten pretty close these past few weeks," Clara raised her eyebrows at me while eating a strawberry.

"Yeah, I didn't know people who just met a few weeks ago can be in love." "We are not in love!" "Oh but your googley heart eyes say otherwise." "I do not have googley heart eyes for Chase." "How'd you know we were talking about Chase?" I just looked at all of them, "I- Wha- Who else would you be talking about?!" "Could've been any of the five guys." "Yeah, I was thinking Evan," Jane smiled. It was good to see her smiling again. "No, no, Ace and Dexter for sure!" They all burst into a fit of giggles as I just scoffed at them.

"Come on, you know you love us," Clara put her head on my shoulder. "Oh do I now?" I asked as I grabbed my pillow and hit her with it. She gasped and looked at me, "Did you just hit me?" "I think she just hit you!" Lizzie nodded her head. "No, it was a love tap," I innocently smiled. She headed towards her bed to grab her own pillow, "Love tap my ass." "My pleasure," I said as I hit her butt with my pillow. She turned towards me, mouth open and wide yes, "You did not!" "Oh yes she did," Lizzie laughed. Clara started to attack me with my pillow. The other three all grabbed their own and ran over to hit me too, "Woah why are you all ganging up on me, what did I do?"

We all laughed so hard that night. And we all woke up the next morning on the floor all tangled up.
