Chapter Eleven: Lizzie's Birthday Masks
Today was the twenty-ninth day of April. Tomorrow was the last, and Lizzie's birthday. The girls and I were trying to figure out a perfect theme for her party. We did the same thing that we did for Chase's party and wrote down the presents we wanted for her. We also wrote out a list of things we want for the party. It was pretty lucky we could get anything we wanted and thought of...
She has convinced us to do face masks and just a bunch of skincare many times. We know she loves to do things like that, so that's what we wanted her party to be based around. We planned on doing face masks and eye patches. Not much, but after that Lizzie would have the floor and choose what we do.
Lizzie is always the one to sleep latest so we had no worries about not getting the party set up before she got up. The next morning, I was the first one up out of all of us. I walked into the mess hall and saw everything set up, it was perfect. Just as I had imagined.
Everything was purple, her favorite color. Balloons, a banner, all the face products were set up on one of the tables. She was going to love it!
And she did.
I made pancakes for everyone, Lizzie's had sprinkles in it. I liked this birthday celebration better than Chase's. It killed me not being able to acknowledge that it was his birthday at all. Well up until we got that stupid scavenger hunt. Trapped me inside.
Anyways, like we predicted, everyone was up before her. When she got up and saw everything she got so excited. Almost started crying, which I wasn't surprised about.
We ate breakfast and let Lizzie take over with the party. She knew the most about this stuff, and I wanted it to be perfect for her.
She told us to start by washing our faces. So she made us all go back to our cabins to wash our faces in the bathroom sinks, not the kitchen sink. She made a big thing about that. Don't the pipes all go to the same place?
After we all made it back to the mess hall, she told us to start putting on face masks. We all chose our face mask and started to apply them. "I'm doing this over the sink," Clara stated, grabbing her mirror and walking into the kitchen. "No not the kitchen sink!" Lizzie ran in after her, a few seconds later they both walked out and headed towards our cabin. "Over the sink wouldve probably been a good idea," I quietly said to Chase sitting next to me. I was very focused on not getting the mask everywhere, since I had chosen a liquid one.
"Dexter I do not trust you with a liquid mask," we heard Max say. "But I don't want to use a stupid sheet mask, those are no fun. And they're slimy." "Then let's go to the sink and do this so that you don't get it all over the place," Chase and I giggled as the door to the mess hall opened and they walked out.
Evan whispered, "Don't tell Lizzie, but I'm going to use the kitchen sink." "Where's everyone going?" Jane had been getting a drink, though I don't remember her walking into the kitchen. "You'll find at least one person at each sink," Chase told her. She just nodded and walked out. "Where's she going?" He asked me. "Who knows," I slightly shrugged.
"Done!" Karina said proudly. "Great! Wanna get snacks?" Hayden asked smiling at her. "Yeah sure, lemme wash my hands and we can make popcorn or something." Everyone had left except Chase and I.
"Well, everyone cleared out fast," I said while closing the container with the face mask. Then I noticed Chase hadn't been putting any on, "Chase, what're you doing?" "Oh, I wanted to use the same one as you. You see I have pretty sensitive skin too and that was the one you were using." "We could've shared it and put it on at the same time.... You wanted me to do it for you, didn't you?" He smiled, "At least help me?" I laughed opening the container.
I turned to him and told him to go grab a headband for his fluffy hair. When he sat back down, he sat closer to me. It was easier to put it on when he was right in front of me. I used the small spatula thing to gather some of the mask and put it on his forehead. "Wooh! That's cold," Chase spoke. "You'll get used to it, call down."
I put my hand under his chin, it would be easier to move his head when I needed him to if I could direct him myself. He closed his eyes and relaxed while I put the mask on his face. I didn't blame him, I could go to sleep while one was doing stuff like this to me.
I made sure to avoid his eye area, but still cover as much as I could. After I finished and he opened his eyes, I realized how close we truly were. The two of us were just staring into each other's eyes, my hand still gently holding his head. I always imagined something like this happening in books, and it always seemed awkward. And it was. But I couldn't look away, and I don't think he could either.
Crap. I like Chase Andrews.
It wasn't a big crush, but I definitely had feelings for him.
Then Hayden walked in, "I made popcorn!" We both dropped our gazes and I dropped my hand. Karina and Evan walked in behind him. "You made popcorn?" Evan asked. "All you did was drop the first bag on the ground and make me pop another bag," Karina rolled her eyes.
I smiled, "Give me some of that!" The five others made their way back into the mess hall. When our face masks sat on our faces for the set amount of time, we all peeled them off. I never liked this part, especially when they didn't dry fully.
The rest of the day was super fun. We did the eye patches and then went to clean our faces again. After that we played a few board games. Ate cake, and watched a movie on the projector. Lizzie seemed to really enjoy it. I did too, but Chase was on my mind the whole time.
*A/N: ace has finally admitted to herself that she likes Chase, i really don't have anything planned for the upcoming chapters until halloween (for them) so i might skip a couple a months but they're just going to be average weeks with a game but it would be boring to write every week and game 😃*
