Yeongja sat on the balcony, staring blankly at the brown envelope her private investigator gave. She sighed and poured herself some red wine before gulping it down in one go. The clock then struck three in the morning.
She felt the night breeze brushing against her skin. She looked at the skyscrapers twinkling with their lights, brightening the night. She ripped the envelope open and saw pictures of her husband kissing an unknown woman.
"He just couldn't keep it in his pants."
She laughed and poured herself another glass of wine. The door to her shared bedroom with her husband opened. Mr Ahn walked in with tired eyes and jumped in shock when he saw her looking at him from the balcony.
She stood up and approached him, "Do you have work at this time?"
"Yeah," he said hesitantly and let her take off his coat. He sat at the edge of the bed and breathed out heavily. She walked back to the balcony to bring in the pictures, "Someone gave me this as a gift. I thought I'd share them with you."
"What is it?"
His eyes widened when she handed him pictures of him and Sunghoon's mother. There were pictures of them kissing, going to a hotel together, holding each other's hand secretly in public. All behind his wife's back.
But Yeongja didn't care. Her love for her husband had died years and years ago. "How did you get these?" He asked in fear.
"You are stupid. The next time you want to cheat on me, do it properly. You are the brother to the country's president. If news releases these pictures, you are done."
"You hired someone to stalk me," he laughed before running his fingers through his hair.
"I don't care what you want to do. I never knew you were such a bad father to Bina."
He gave her a death stare before grabbing her by the collar, "Shut up. I'm not the one pressuring her to study until she had to be hospitalized."
"You're saying it's my fault?" She gritted her teeth, "Tell me, which one is worse. Bina being stressed about studying or Bina being stressed because she finds out her father is cheating on her mother with another woman?"
Mr Ahn slowly released his wife's collar and backed away. Yeongja folded her arms and laughed before muttering, "Such a man-whore."

Daeun frowned and slammed her neurosurgery book close. She winced in pain and massaged her twisted ankle gently. Her body jumped a little when the doorbell rang.
I can't go to the door!
Shit!
"Just open it!" She yelled, hoping for a miracle that the person behind the door knew the passcode. "I don't know your passcode!" A familiar voice yelled back.
She knew it was Areum's voice. She told her mother about her twisted ankle and she was sure her mother told Areum since Areum's house was near hers.
Daeun told the detective her passcode number and heard the door beep as it was opened. Areum walked in with two bags of fried chicken. To her surprise, Minhyuk followed behind the detective.
"You!" Daeun narrowed her eyes. The boy sighed, "You look bad."
"I can't believe you're tall already! The last time I saw you, your height was up to my waist."
"I just can't leave him alone at the house. My parents are out visiting their relatives. So I decided to take him with me."
"Your ankle is pretty bad. It's started to swell," Minhyuk said and sat next to Daeun. He examined all the thick books she had with her and sighed, "If I were you, I would close the books and go to sleep."
"I can't. I failed my tests before."
He chuckled, "I thought you always pass your tests? You even argued with Bina all the time."
Areum smacked his head and handed him the fried chicken boxes, "Can you go put these on a plate. We're going to eat it."
Daeun glanced at him before saying, "The plates are in the second drawer!"
"Did you have your ankle checked yet?" Areum asked, feeling worried that Daeun's ankle turned redder than usual.
"It's just a twisted ankle. It's not like the bones came out of the skin. I'm fine."
The detective exhaled heavily and examined all the neurosurgery book titles. "You don't have to push yourself, Daeun. Sometimes, the courses that we take are not suitable for us. Maybe neurosurgery is not for you?"
She is right, after all.
I am pushing myself. Just to beat Bina.
It is kinda petty. There are some things that I am just not good at.
Daeun closed her eyes tiredly, "I do feel like I'm forcing myself to like neurosurgery. Maybe I should just stick to business, right?"
Areum nodded and patted the younger girl's shoulder. Minhyuk then came back with two plates of fried chicken. "The left one is honey flavoured and the right one is spicy."
He then placed the plates on the table before turning on the TV. Daeun's eyes widened when her father's picture was displayed on the screen.
"Earlier today during the usual political meeting, President Ahn was almost shot by a hitman. The bullet missed him but hit one of the president's workers. The worker was soon rushed to a hospital but sadly, he had lost his life."
"President Ahn is safe but has injured his right leg due to being pushed by his bodyguard to avoid the bullet."
Daeun instantly stood up, "Who would hire a hitman to kill my father?!"
"Daeun, sit down. You're injured!" Areum tried to stop her from leaving. "What about my dad?" She asked again.
Minhyuk sighed, "It's hard being the president. When people don't like you, they will try to kill you. And you, Daeun, can easily be put into danger."
