《Chapter 24》

《Chunany's pov》

My stomach grumbled and I spat tasting a bad taste in my mouth, followed by a wave of made nausea. I rode and parked at a small crevice on the side of the road, I was sure I have never been on this road but it seemed well travelled by the looks of it. I carefully climbed off the bike with the baby, then took the knife with me. I listened but heard nothing except the quietness of the forest all around us, it was me and my baby alone in this vast forest.

I pull the large blanket with her from around me and set her down amongst the bedding in the carriage. Swiftly going through the food items, I pulled out a pack of biscuits. My head spun and I walked quickly away from the carriage and vomited. Raquema began to wail loudly for me and I felt like slapping her.

I went near to the carriage and shushed her, but she kept crying for me to lift her up. She was really being spoiled I thought, I patted her tiny hand for her to keep quiet as I vomited some more. She kept crying and I took her up and slapped her hard across her romp, she cried loudly for a little bit then stopped and a wave of anger flooded me along with my sick feeling.

My stomach and throat burned from my throwing up and I leaned weakly against the carriage, holding her in my arms until she went to sleep. She was being hand up too much, I can't do anything without her creeping after me or until she was asleep and everyone normally hands her up. It will be put to a stop when I get back home, I told myself miserably.

I put her down amongst the bedding and covered her with the blanket, with the moonlight I filled up the gas tank then covered up my vomit by kicking snow over it. My hand reeked of petrol and I took up handfuls of snow and rubbed them together, in a bid to eliminate the smell. I rinsed out my mouth with the bottle of water I had placed in the baby's bag, then forced myself to eat two biscuits and drink some water. After that I went through the other food bag, in which I had found the lighter, seems they were well prepared for the forest, I found parcels of dried seasonings and herbs I had overlooked before in my haste.

The bags were more like canvases sown together, the ones they mainly used down by the ports. Also there was another bag with bedding, I didn't want to pull it out because my stomach felt like wretching again at the thought of sleeping on beddings he had raped on. Deciding to put them to the back and make space to sleep I gently lifted my baby and placed her to the side of the carriage on one of the new bedspread.

I lifted an old looking bedding and saw that it was covering something underneath. Upon opening a wide box, I found some tools, two rechargeable lights, candles more lighters and two small pots. Being mildly surprised was an understatement, I was very surprised they were so neatly packed. I switched on one of the rechargeable lights setting it so I can see better. Aluminum foil, a small igloo which held kitchen towels with some forks and spoons wrapped in them and a few plastic plates and cups.

I struggled to lift out that heavy box to see what else lies underneath and saw a tent, a dark green camping tent. It was in an unopened plastic and I was a bit confused, a propane can was stacked to the corner along with some ropes and a small black bag and a three gallon bottle marked glacier water stood in the other corner.

My head ache and I felt dizzy, I placed back the box in it's place and piled the food bags on them to create space for me and my baby to sleep. After setting Raquema comfortably on the makeshift bed I made up on the carriage, I took the knife and carried the light a short distance into the trees. The trees grew thick and closely together here and when I found an opening the bike and carriage could fit through, I went back and hung the light over the bike handle. Then drove the bike through the opening into the space.
