Queen of my heart (continued)

The reality

Devika stood beside Ashwini on the elephant as it strolled into the town. She heard drums thumping , people cheering , horses neighing and there was one more sound she couldn't define, it was not intense enough to be heard.

Devika smiled at the people. Her gaze met with an old women who was so old that her skin was like a wrinkled carpet and her spine was bent but her eyes were so confident with a glint of horror , regret and sadness. She scowled at Devika and raised her hand to pray to the sky .

 And just then every citizen of Northern seas looked up. 

Fireball covered the sky ,suddenly ,waiting to thrash the country . Fear raised up her core . She tasted bile in her mouth and had goosebumps on her body. She peeked at Ashwini for relief but her eyes met with just a pool of blood and darkness . Ashwini laid there on the floor .Devika felt it was her end. 

Just then as if waiting for there great animatic entry the waters made a hush towards the town , like a gaint snake, it watered every alley and every path . The citizens drowned in it .

As if it wasn't enough, to welcome Devika to her new home the vultures came flying . 

That old woman shouted at Devika for bringing such apocalypse at the country of the Greatest Ruler and abused her for these.

The elephant somehow managed to walk through the water but it wasn't lucky enough with the vultures who picked at its thick grey legs .

 A vulture came towards Devika and pulled at her hair  .Devika shouted and she lost the balance as she fell off the elephant into the deep waters.

So this was the end , so deadly and so punishing , she thought.

That one sound which wasn't audible enough to her sometime before came out to be the voice of the hermit who cursed her. 

She woke up panting and with sweat covering her body .

She looked at her balcony it was a little later midnight . 

A cool breeze calmed her nerves . 

She couldn't bring these to Ashwini and she won't . She vowed and walked off the bed . She called for Surohi . 

"Surohi , you need to help ! " She shouted to her.

" So someone here is having some private thoughts ,is it ? " Rudraksh teased Ashwini .

"Aye ,Rudra it would be better for your health if you don't disturb me and my thoughts." Ashwini smiled at him while wearing his kurta for his wedding . 

Rudraksh was his younger brother who was a scientist cum pharmacologist cum botanist cum doctor .He had got brains and Ashwini got muscles. He accepted this fact and vowed to never fight for his share of kingdom.

"In a kingdom , you need people to rule upon. Will people exist if they are not healthy?" he always made this point when courtiers wanted him to participate in the rulings.

 Rudraksh was in need of some plants which were found in the southern mountains so he came in tow with Ashwini.

"Rudraksh , do you think that curse will destroy us ? " Maharaja questioned him while his belt was being tied. No matter how much he loved Devika he knew she had that power to bring about a mayhem.

"Brother , I don't know if you even need the curse to destroy you because just the thought of it increases your blood pressure enough to kill you." Rudraksh said without looking at his brother.

Maybe he was scared ,maybe not. Because do scientist believe in destiny ? 

They heard a knock on the door and saw a maid walking in . 

"Maharaja , this is a letter from the princess . " Saying this the maid walked away .

"Maharaja

I apologize to you because I can't marry you . "

Why do you make those suffer who love you ? Maybe you should give a thought to the fact that I care for you more than myself .Its just not you who is making a sacrifice here .
