"Time to get up Meridus." Elinor said as she quickly opened the curtains, letting the sunshine through the window.
Groaning, the young lad pulled the covers over his head. "10 more minutes." He grumbled as he nuzzled his head under the covers.
Rolling her eyes, the queen walked over to his bed and snatched the covers from him. "A prince awakes early." She said sternly. "And it is your birthday. Angus is waiting for you."
The young lad shot up, hair a crazy mess. "I'm up." He said as he quickly climbed out of bed. After his mother left the room, he changed into something comfortable for his full day exploration.
Meridus ran out of his room and down the staircase leading to the front doors. Along the way, he snatched a fresh apple from a passing maids plate.
There was no time for him to stop and greet his family for breakfast. He wanted to ride, to feel free. Even just for a day. He made his way down to the horse stables.
"Are ye ready Angus?" The young lad asked his trusted horse. Fur black as night, the horse neighed as a response. Meridus saddled his steed before hopping on his back. The two took off out of the stables and into the forest.
Meridus pulled out his bow and aimed his arrow, letting it go, the arrow struck its target. The lad had targets put up for his little horseback adventures. Each target he hit, the more confident he became.
The wind kissed his skin as he spread his arms wide, enjoying every second of his freedom. Meridus continued to ride Angus down the path before they eventually stopped. He hopped off the horse, gently brushing his mane. "Rest up Angus." He said softly before he went over to the nearest log and sat down.
He pulled out his bow, using a sharp stick, he started to carve into the handle. It was peaceful. The only sounds were the wind blowing the leaves and a few birds chirping here and there. This day was exactly what he needed.

Blair stepped out of her cave, glancing around at her surroundings. It was just another day to her. Sighing, the young girl gathered her bow and a small pouch of food.
There were days she just wanted to explore and seek something new. She's walked the forest ground a million times over. But she always did refuse to go near any castle and any village.
"Mmmm." She groaned as her stomach grumbled. She didn't have breakfast, there wasn't anything to eat but some berries she found days ago.
She made her way down the trail, humming a soft tune to herself. She didn't expect anyone to be this far out. It was too close to the big black bear everyone feared. So she knew it would always be peaceful, and it would just be her.
She walked closer to the river, hoping she could catch some fish. "Ack! Angus!" Blair stopped as soon as she heard a horse neigh and a male voice. Quickly, she hid behind a tree. She peeked over a little and noticed a teenage boy with curly red hair.
"What's he doing out here?" she asked herself, watching closely. She hasn't seen another human being in years. She pulled her bow out and got the arrows ready, just in case the young lad wasn't friendly.
She watched as the boy chuckle at his horse, brushing the horses mane. "Be still boy. There's leaves in your hair." The boy said as he plucked some dry leaves from the mane.
Blair was trying to sneak closer. She noticed the lad had a bag of fruit and an bow as well. The fruit she could enjoy along with some fish. She quickly and quietly snuck behind a bush, keeping her eyes on the boy and the horse. The boy was distracted as she managed to sneak by the log his stuff was on.
All she wanted was the fruit, she already had a bow of her own. She reached her hand out towards the bags strap and quickly grabbed it. But much to her dismay, she stepped on a twig. It snapped, startling the horse and some nearby birds.
Blair swallowed thickly as she snatched the bag of fruit as the boy turned around. "Hey!" He yelled as Blair quickly ran off. "Come back!"

Groaning in annoyance, Maridus quickly grabbed his bow and hopped on Angus. Normally, he wouldn't have cared if a bag of food was stolen. But a compass his father had given him when he was younger was in the bag. His father gave it to him as a good luck charm and a way to find home.
Meridus gently kicked Angus, making him run. "Where is she?" He mumbled under his breath, glancing around as they ran. Angus stopped between a set of trees, neighing as Meridus glanced around. He had lost sight of the girl.
Sighing, he almost gave up but a small sound echoed behind him. He turned, noticing a will 'o' the wisp was waiting for him. "Take me to her." He whispered as he hopped off of Angus. "Follow me boy." He told his trusty steed as they followed the wisps.
It wasn't long until the wisps lead him to a cave entrance. "Stay here." He told Angus as he grabbed his small dagger. He had to be cautious of any bears around. He slowly crept into the dark cave in high alert. He glanced around, noticing torches lit up on the walls. There was a small makeshift bed on the cave floor and a fire pit. He could tell someone was living in this cave. He kept quiet as he searched for the girl and/or his bag.
"Ahhh!" A yell echoed throughout the cave. The young girl jumped at Meridus, knocking him to the ground. He groaned when his body hit the cave floor. "I'm not here to fight ye." He said as he slowly stood to his feet. "I just want my bag."
He noticed the girl had a small bit of fear in her eyes. He didn't want to harm her nor scare her. The girl sighed, taking the bag from around her shoulders and holding it out. "Sorry, I just wanted the fruit." She said softly.
Meridus gently took the bag from her. He opened it and reached inside, pulling out the compass his father gave him. "No worries laddie, I just wanted me compass." He chuckled lightly. He handed the bag back to her. "Ye can keep the fruit."
The girl hesitated before taking the bag. "Uh- thank you.." her voice was low and shy. He could faintly see her features with the torches. He watched as she tucked a strand of curly blonde hair behind her ear.
"How long have you lived in this cave?" He asked curiously. It seemed like she lived there for a long while.
Nervously, the girl rubbed her arm. "Since I was wee little. Me parents were killed by a bear." There was a small sad glint in her eyes.
Meridus was stunned. How could someone live out in the forest all that time? "Oh. I'm so sorry." He said softly. Maybe he could take her home with him. But he didn't know how his parents would react to him bringing a stray girl home. But he also couldn't leave her alone out here. The wisps showed him where she was for a reason.
"I'm sorry to cause you trouble." The girl said. "It's hard finding food out here." He noticed the girl glanced up at him and then shyly look away.
Hesitating, Meridus let out a small sigh. "I can't leave ye out here. Why don't ye come home with me? My parents surely wouldn't mind." He gave her a soft reassuring smile. "Oh-" he gently held out his hand to her, introducing himself. "I'm Meridus."
The girl hesitated before gently taking his hand in hers. "Blair."
