"This is ridiculous, Adam. You have to tell someone." I said concerned for the way my friend has been treated of lately.

"That will just make things worse." He argued as he went on to scrub his face.

"They can't get away with this. You have to get help." I said once more as I examined the vulgar drawing on his cheek along with the f-slur written across his forehead.

"If I tell anyone it will get back to my dad. Trust me, my dad will do a lot worse than sharpie my face." Adam had said.

"Why do football guys think they have this sense of power over the rest of us? You don't deserve this, Adam. You don't deserve any of this Shit." I ranted.

"Look, it's just two more years of high school, okay? Then we can run away together, like we planned. Remember our plan?" He said.

"How could I forget?" I smiled faintly.

"Step one..." Adam started.

"Move to New York." I answered.

"Step two..." he continued.

"Get a crappy apartment and work at a local coffee shop." I answered.

"Four..." he went on.

"Find super hot guys who also respect us." I laughed.

"My personal favorite." He said. "Five?"

"Live happily ever after. Away from this town and the assholes that live in it." I responded.

"Away from my dad. Away from these teachers who don't give a shit." He added.

"Away from Billy." I said.

"Away from everything. Together." He smiled.

"Together." I agreed. We went on to embrace one another. Shortly after, the bathroom doors burst open. Billy.

"Well, well, well. Is this the infamous, "Lorraine"?" Billy questioned.

"Billy, get out." I warned.

"Hey, hey, hold on a second." He said. "I just want to meet your friend."

"Leave. Us. Alone." I warned once more.

"What, you didn't think that when I heard my sister had snuck a boy into the girls bathroom I'd just ignore it?" He asked. "No. I'm gonna teach this abomination a lesson."

"Billy, no!" I shouted as he pushed me aside and went straight for Adam. He shoved Adam to the ground and began to beat the actual shit out of his face. "Billy, get off of him!"

"You stay away from my sister, you hear me?" Billy yelled as he continued to throw punches. I tried pulling his arm back only for Billy to shove me away.

"Billy, Billy please." I cried just as a couple of teachers had burst through the doors. They pulled Billy off of Adam and managed to get him out of the room. I made my way over to Adam. As much as he had just taken, he was still breathing.
